Whilst servicing my fried and squealing brakes on Sunday I noticed that the nearside front anti-roll bar bush had popped out of it's mounting.
Luckily it only takes a minute to release the mount and pop it back in.
I had heard no knocking or clonking and didn't detect any performance change on the day, although it would have probably been put down to the strains of the racing lines I was throwing the car through.
Anyone else noticed this? Anyone else even checked their cars over since the track day?

Neil.

Neil,
My front near side anti-roll bar bush disappeared on at Brands. Every little bump in the road tells me about it - I'm trying to find out if it's worth going for powerflex bushes before getting the work done, and if so, how many bushes to change - and do I need the ALK?

While we're on the subject, is a few miles (say 100) before getting the new bush fitted likely to do any damage to the anti-roll bar (driving fairly carefully)?

There's a load of info re powerflex bushes, and how they improve handling on track, make the ride too hard off track, and can cause too much stress to the rest of your car if you get all bushes changed. I don't know what to do.

Its an easy and permanent fix...

put big (6mm) cable ties around each of the bush cups, next to the arb. This will stop the bushes sliding out ever again.

Triggaaar.

I would get it replaced asap as the roll bar will get scored and roughened which will in turn tear out whetever bush you decide to fit later.

I think ALK and bushing should be viewed separately, although I do know that the ALK distorts the front wishbone mount bush (the reason I wouldn't get it) so fitting an uprated kit with ALK (if that one is included) could prove a problem.

On the uprated kit thing, I've heard similar reports: increased road/diff noise, hard ride, too hard "for road use" etc.
I'm not tempted myself; the car spends more time on the road than the track....

Greg.

Check up under the car in front of the road wheels; you will see a metal bar that is attached by drop links to the front wishbones and is bent to project forward and then across to the other side. This is the anti roll bar.
Where this bar is joined to the bodywork, you will see a 'U' shaped bracket that passes over the AR Bar. There should be a rubber bush inside this bracket but around the AR Bar. If there isn't it's worked it's way out and is hopefully still on the bar. If not, it has fallen off and you need to buy a new one!
