Default ECU Upgrades?

Hello all,

I'm sorry to sound STUPID But...........I have a 1996 UK Car 2.0Turbo Impreza Wagon.......completely standard.......she will soon have a replacement panel filter (K&N)..........now, I will be completely honest...personally I do not think she is that quick...I mean yes, she fast, but not quite what I was expecting.....my old boy has a 1996 Mcrea and a 1999 RB5...so maybe I'm simply expecting too much....I want to make some upgrades....thinking of chips or ECU's....can anyone pls give me some guidance? do's, don'ts...etc, etc........

Thanks....

Start by ensuring everything is as it should be. Where are you based?
A rolling road run would show what you have now but you would have to choose the RR carefully to get a satisfactory comparison.
Only once you have checked everything is OK is it time to look for more.
Usual starting point would be a performance proven exhaust system with open neck down pipe. complete decat for best performance.
Next could be ported headers and up-pipe but to go much beyond that and you need to start thinking about a remap.
