Default under bonnet mods

did this today


tilt kit on MY00.

trimmed rubber seal down.....does this look ok to anyone who knows these things??or is it too short now?



also spent about 1hour with a cocktail stick opening up bent fins on the i/c........what a thankless and backbreaking task that was!!

The seal looks a bit short to me.
Mine youches the fins, just to make an airtightish seal.?

Looks fine to me, i wouldn't have thought you want it actually 'on' the intercooler,well, mine isn't after that mod anyways.....

i thought that. after trimming some off i lowered bonnet and it looked like it was gonna just bend the fins it touches. esp as once the rubber is trimmed it is less flexible than before. so i took a fraction more off

will doing this and then adding a i/c splitter effect the bhp? im a newb to any car world let alone scoobies and have no techie knowledge at all!!! Guess what im asking is i know it makes the i/c more effective, but what knock-on effect does that have?

IMHO this mod does very little to bhp, but it has done something for you:
You have got your hands dirty on an Impreza and have started to understand them better! And:
The mod will possibly get more air to go through the fin pack, but if you do have a gap between the seal lip and the IC body, the scoop air will get past/out through the easiest way, and that will be through the gap!
