Default Worried Owner (not anymore thanks!!)

I am the proud owner of an 03 sti uk.

I use it very little and when it does come out all i do is worry about it getting damaged or stolen. Am i the only person that worries about this or do i have car OCD.

All the stories on scoobynet of cars either getting stolen or damaged are making the situation worse?

Do i sell or grin and bear it???

i think most of us are the same but your problem is that you dont drive it enough and your wrapping it in cotton wool.

your not the only one.

1)I change my driving routes home from work,
2)Never drive directly to my house if the same car has been behind me for a while,
3)hide the keys at night,
4)block the scooby in the drive with another car,
5)sleep with a pellet gun with laser sighting under the pillow,
6)if I have to go somewhere I always enquire about parking

If you believed only HALF of the rubbish you read on here then you do need help!!

Cars do get stolen, cars do get car-jacked, engines do blow up ........ but the cars at risk are the Chavved-Up ones - they are out late at night, they shout their location with big exhausts, they are running 950BHP and blow up at each MacDonalds stop - they are driven by kiddies who get their toys taken from them!!!!

If its that bad mate sell it, after all its only a car, ive had mine 3yrs and she's grown from a std uk turbo 215 to a monster of 383 and that thought doesn't even cross my mind when im driving her

The day she doesn't make me smile when i get her out is the day i sell her

don't sell it over fears of something that will probably never happen.

we all love our cars and i know some people are a bit more attached to their car than others and if you're getting pressure from the other half about the car then that's a different matter.

bottom line, it's insured. drive it. do all the sensible things when you take it out and for crying out loud, enjoy it

Shall we get every SNet member to post a new thread each day to report that their car was still on the drive when they awoke, that their front door appears to be intact, that their drive home was safe and that all is well with the world

the problem is not that bad it only seems bad because horror stories from the entire 4 countries of the UK are being compacted onto one BBS.

Just enjoy your car because that is all it is just a car that is insured.

Here's what you do:

Get a large friend
Open the bonnet of your car
Stick your head in
Get the large friend to repeatedly slam the bonnet of the car on your head until such thoughts dissappear!

Seriously, you want to spend your life having nothing nice cause some scum might try and take it from you/damage it?!?!?! Bollox to that, take sensible precautions against car/property crime, get decent insurance and get on with enjoying the car!!

No-one posts to say their car is fine every day, but they certainly will post to say if it gets nicked or damaged; this creates a distorted view of how likely such events are!

I don't agree with this mate. The people who really will take your car (not have a half arsed attempt) will go for the standard, quiet cars.

Ever tried to look subtle 5 up in a rally stickered car that can be heard from miles away??

Saying that though the poster should obviously lighten up and enjoy the car.

Just drive the thing. I drive mine everywhere, and although I won't just park it just anywhere especially at night, I tend not to worry.

If they want your car, they'll get it.
