Tesco Super 99ron
Just filled up with a tank of this, as was so low on fuel and couldnt make it to the next day until I passed a Shell Garage, well I am sure the car is going better for it with this stuff
It seems to be a little "looser" and boost seems to come on a little earlier maybe its me?

Definate increase in mpg for me over Texaco HighOctane (97ron). The engine also seemed a bit more responsive to begin with but now I'm not sure - after 3 or 4 tanks of this the car seems to have developed a light hesitation at around 3500rpm that it's never had before.
Might be unrelated.

They are sponsoring a number of the Group N Cars. Was watching the Manx Rally last week, stickers all over the cars and some show cars at the Royal Welsh too.
I have been using it for a while. When I remap this car I'll see if there is a difference. My last car was mapped for Tesco 97 and went like a dream.

Tesco in Essex
EmEm, their are 2 tesco close to the A127.
One near Toomey's, Laindon and another on Gardeners Lane Business park. Both sites sell 99RON.
I've been using it for months and am quite happy with it, although havent noticed any increase in performance over regular 97.

Cant believe there isn't a place in Manchester (south side) that sells it
There's 4 24 hour mahoosive supermarkets here too!!
Spoke to the guy at my local Shell place this morning and he say's they have the 102 V-power stuff in the tanks now anyway

Why is it whenever someone moves from Optimax to Tesco 99RON or from 99RON to Optimax do they come on here and say oooohh it makes so much difference, does it bollox!! You're just imagining it, how can such a tiny change in RON make such a difference???

I was using Optimax when my car was initially remapped. On second mapping, it was mapped to Tesco's 99. Andy F said he managed to run a few extra degrees of advance on the Tesco's 99. The car also seemed a little stronger off boost.

Its good stuff for sure - got 190miles from half a tank in my 04 scoob inc motorway driving (avg speed 75mph) and town driving. Car mapped to optimax however both fuels do the job.

It might be in my head, although judging by andy f's comment I might be right

Interesting - would have been nice if they could have also tested a turbo application to see how the fuels performed in a high compression environment
so you think that a subaru has a higher final compression ratio than a N/A bmw csl?

Compression ratio does not = the same as 'high compression environment'
At 1bar of boost on a low compression ratio engine (say around 8.5:1) you are generating an air fuel density roughly equivalent to a NA engine running 17:1 compression ratio (ie much much higher than NA engines actually produce). Fuel can and does behave differently in such environments
