Default Which exhaust to get???

Hiya peeps, this is my first question so don't flame me please

I've been and bought a 1999 impreza turbo 2000 5 door sport wagon.
I've got between £350 and £500 for an exhaust system,
now I want it to be nice and burbly when ther car is ticking over
and loud when under heavy acceleration but not too loud,
i.e. something that's livable when on the motorway.

I've had my eye on a ninja de-cat pipe from the turbo to the zaust,
are these any good or should I just get a cat back system,

Cheers Basssound

p.s. is this in the right section??

Bite the bullet and get a full decat system from the turbo back

if you dont want drone then buy a system that has a bung for when your on long journeys or toughen up

or get one with a resonated centre section. I used to have a scoobysport H&S decat downpipe and backbox with a magnex resonated centre on my classic. It sounded nice, gave good gains and was comfortable on the motorway.

If it's only the moise that you're interested in then just change backbox. You won't gain much performance though, you need to replace the downpipe and centre to get the best gains as they contain the cats.

Whatever you get make sure it all fits together or fits with what you already have. There are different diameters of pipes and varying lengths and joint types between 2.5" and 3" systems. If your car has the standard exhaust then most 2.5" items will fit with it and retain the existing bolts. If you go for 3" you need to make sure it will fit with what you have if you aren't replacing the full system at once.

H&S Original design backbox
H&S resonated centre

These will improve the noise no end, but be acceptable for Motorway use and won't annoy neighbours/passers by etc..

If you keep your eye on the for sale section you will get a secondhand one for half that. I got a full scoobysport 2.5" inc downpipe for a newage for £220 delivered. Then you can spend your change on some other performance enhancing modification.

Nur Spec R everytime
Everytime i drive my car the sound just brings a smile to my face, yes they are very loud without the bung, but you could always decide to put it back in, but that thought has never crossed my mind.

P.s if you hate the neighbours , buy one .

So then peeps, everyone seems to be going for the turbo de-cat pipe,
de-cat centre section and back box, I've had a look around and found
the ninja fast flow turbo cat, de-cat centre section and ninja back box,
are these any good???

Just that I really want it to be MOT passable so that I don't have to mess
around changing it to get it to pass!!

319bhp and 316ft lbs torque out of my MY99, with a spec featuring -among other things- with a Ninja sports cat down pipe and H&S centre section and backbox. So, yes, I'd say that the Ninja is a very good exhaust!

Definately go for the sports cat DP, saves faffing about at MOT time and means your car stays 100% emissions legal.

What is the crack with the H&S, does this mean Haywood and Scott??
If so, where do you go to buy these exhausts as there isn't any shops on the
internet who sells them!!

Am I right in saying then, any decat pipe will fit any centre section and so on,
i.e. ninja sports de-cat pipe from the turbo to a H&S de-cat centre section
to a blitz nur spec back box??

Best to get a full system of the same brand IMO as it will be a sure match and fit, some systems have different length piping as for Jap market and Euro one

The ninja will fit fine with these, just make sure you get the same diameter pipes!! 2.5 inch good for up to 350bhp above that and you'll be wanting 3 inch.

Their system made 39bhp on the rollers. Not sure on the actual full car spec though.

TSL Firestorm back box and TSL center section on my Bug STI, sounds awesome when caning it, nice and quiet on tick over + a lovely burble, no motor way drone and I am legal as I still have a front cat, build quality is also very good and TSL were a plesure to deal with, would like to hear the above with full de cat as that would sound insane!

I have the pulse extraction exhaust from TSL, got it with the 333 remap, the sound is awesome, lovely burble when not trashing about, tbh not much louder than the pro drive exhaust on the ppps tbh.
