Default STI Spoiler fitting

Im in the processing of acquiring an STI spoiler of a friend for my standard WRX, its a real one, not a replica. I was just wondering if any could tell me whether it will just be a case of taking the old one off and putting the new one on or if i will have to make new holes, and whether any holes made by the original spoiler would then be exposed?

Cheers

Joe

You need to drill loads of extra holes, and the boot will not open due to the extra weight of the spoiler.
It's far better to swap the boot lids over, if you can.

BTW The existing holes will be covered.

the original holes wil be covered, you can make new holes but the extra clips on the STI spoiler are 'twist and lock' and you can remove them and store them somewhere and just fit using the ones that line up with the original spoiler holes.

thats what i did on mine, and 6 months later no issues with flexing or bending or anything (new age MY03)

My mistake, fitting the smaller spolier to an sti makes the boot lid fly open if you use the in car release.

Does not apply to you though.

Thanks for that guys.

This spoiler is coming off a car thats been wrecked. If for some reason i can't get all the screws etc that were used to attatch it to that car do you think i would be able to get hold of some sort of fitting kit or maybe even just pick up some screws and whatever else you need of the same size from my local DIY store. Would the ones off the old spoiler do?

Cheers

i cant remember if the 4 from your original spoiler are the same time that twist and lock into the STI spoiler, im sure you could find something from a DIY shop to do it, but you may be better asking your local subaru dealers for a pack of a few of them as they are bound to carry some in stock, and you may be lucky and they may not cost you an arm and a leg! lol
