If your car has been hit by or the garage that its in is hit by lightning can it screw the battery?

Went to start the scoob this morning and it wouldn't turnover!?!?

 

i would say it would be a bit more than the battery screwed, the amount of electrics in cars they would be mangled.

 

Yeah thats what I thought, all the dash lights come on etc, prob just needs a new battery!

 

how bright are the dash lights? is it making any attempt to turn over? clicking etc? and when you turn the key, does it dim all the lights?

 

Dash lights seem bright enough. Won't turnover at all. Pretty sure it clicks. When I do try to start it I think it clicks and then the alarm beeps once. Thought it might be the immob first of all, but you can hear the fuel pump prime, but very slowly like its not getting much power. Should be all fine though, my dad is an AA man and has been a mechanic for over 30 years, so he should sort it tonight.

 

Was there not a episode of Top Gear where Hammond was playing with lightening . . .Turned over and started first click!

Are you sure its not just coincidence?

If anything lightening would charge, and not drain the battery IMO .

 

Yeah I remember that now!

It was a friend at work who suggested about the lightning.
