Side skirt coding question

Side skirt coding question
I have a WR Blue WRX 03 with the standard black skirts.
I want to get them painted but have been told that due to the material the skirts are made off (mottled finish) they wont look good.
Has anyone else had the black skirts painted....if so how were the results??
Thanks in advance guys.

I've had mine done. I think the results are good. The bodyshop guy said they needed a fair bit of prep to get a good finish, but it is certainly possible to do. Pic not close up, but will give you the idea.

As above really, they can be done but do take a fair amount of prep with differing grades of wet and dry.
A must though is that they are prepared with plastikote (a clear etching primer) before the real primer and colour coats are added, if they do not use plastikote they will chip pretty quickly.

As all the above, its all about the prep and plastic primer work done to a quality finish. Get a good body shop to do it. Getting mine done in a couple of weeks for £120 (cash in hand ). Hopefully post some pics after its done.

Had mine done as well (admittedly in silver and not blue ) Again, decent bodyshop, proper plastic primer. No problems in the 18months or so since.

Hello mate i sprayed mine myself as im a sprayer for the RAF, I just gave them a good rub down with 400 grade, lathered primer filler on them, about 5 thick coats, left them over night came back the next day, gave them a good sand down till they was really smooth, put 2 coats of basecoat on, then 2 coats of laquer and they came out s**t hot, well pleased with myself, cost me £20, bodyshops will tell you they will be crap when they are done because they carnt be arsed,
hope you get them done ok mate, someone will do a good job its just finding them,
cheers ian
