water spray intercooler
on the 2006 Sti, does anyone know where the water is actually released from into the intercooler. The tub of water sits in the back of the car, but which tubing does that flow through to get to the intercooler??

The nozzle is in the plate mounted in the bonnet under the scoop. It sprays the water into the airflow before it hits the intercooler.

Ian
p.s. I though 2006 cars has the tank under the bonnet apart from the 12L spec C tank which is mounted behind the rear seats!

Just to clarify. There's two ways to use water sprays to cool the air being fed to the engine.
One way is to spray it into the inside of the intercooler, directly into the air being fed to the engine. The water turns to steam in the combustion chamber and cools the air charge directly. Systems like Aquamist do this.
The other method is to spray it onto the outside of the intercooler. The water cools the outer surface of the intercooler and indirectly also cools the air charge inside the intercooler. This is how the standard Subaru spray water system works.
Your comment about spraying water into the intercooler makes me think you think it's the first but it isn't, it's the latter. WRC scoobies use both systems but the former is being banned for next year. My mates who work with both call the former "water injection" and the latter "the cropsprayer" to differentiate the two.

When i had the auto spray fitted the wiring was behind the switch (cut) and i believe there are sensors needed for the auto as it works on boost pressure.

To make an auto version you will need an Auto dash switch and a vacuum operated pressure switch (normally open). A bit of wiring and a bit of plumbing and you can get a fully auto sytem to work alongside your manual set up.
