To save money... Trade in Scoob + Disco for?????
Looking at finances this week...
We don't seem to have as much money available as we should...
The cars are obviously a major expense, but can we save much money by trading them in?
We have 3 kids so need a 'family car'...
The missus 'says' she would be happy with another Fiesta rather than the scoob (97MY) as a daily driver... The scoob costs us hardly anything in maintenance & only does 4-5k miles a year, obviously at this age doesn't have a great deal of capital associated with it - probably in reality straight swap for modern Fiesta? - so major save £250 per year insurance... oh yes and tyres
Disco is 1999 ES 7seat V8 doing ~ 8k miles per year... probable real selling price ~ £6k ??? just had 72k service.
I could cope if the missus had the Fiesta as a runabout and we got a Legacy RSK for a 'family car' - But I don't think this would save us anything
Anyone else been in this situation? - What did you do?
The only major cost save would seem to be to me to be able to reorganise ourselves to use only 1 car...
Cheers
Mick
