Default Is There anywhere on scoobynet

That gives you a complete run down on all the different Impreza models?

As i am totally new to the scooby scene after being an RS fanatic for the past 10 years or so (and still am ..own a MK2 Escort RS2000) I am on the lookout for an Impreza , But it just seems that there are so many variants of the model i am totally lost .
So just was wondering if there was any where on scoobynet that could tell me what i am looking for

I see WRX, STi , wrxsti, type RA , lightwieght models , etc etc,

someone point me in the right direction please

I point you to SIDCs FAQ:

http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm

Good place to start, especially if you are after a classic.

Thanks stiX very very helpful and informative site

Another thing , Is there any benifits/ downsides/ pitfalls on buying a import over a uk model , and i would like to get a car that has allready had the minor mods , as i have bought standard cars in the past and allways end up modding them spending thousands more in doing so.
what mods should i be looking for without buying something that is insanely modded?

I have had an import (WRX MY95) and now own a UK Turbo (MY00).

Benefits:

more power as standard
more bits - folding leccy mirrors/leccy aerial, rear wiper, climate control

Downsides:

more to insure (Gp 20 instead of Gp 17 for UK Turbo)
best to use Octane Booster unless you have it remapped
dubious (if any) history
no underseal

Mods(power):

Full exhaust swap inc. hopefully sports cat downpipe
remap
panel filter change to something freer flowing (JR, Green, STi, K&N etc.)
uprated clutch

These minor mods will give you 270/280 bhp, without unduly stressing clutch/gearbox/engine.

Mods(handling/braking):

4 pot front brake conversion (if pre 99)
Whiteline kit - arbs/drop links/anti-lift

Mods(styling):

V4/V5/V6 rear spoiler
de-tango - changing all orange indicators to clear/crystal
17/18" alloys
STi rear lights - red/white instead of red/orange
Defi Gauges

ask away

the subaru impreza book by brian long is quite a comprehensive book.
including the various jdm cars(there are a lot to choose from if you go for an import)
you can pick the book up on fleabay for about a tenner
