IIRC the 6 pot kit isn't that much more expensive, it's the pads that would cost more and not much at that really.

I'm with Floyd, you'd see no benefit with the 6pots unless ofcourse used in the right application ie track use with slicks.

So what's a good deal on 4pots, and talking of weight, how much heavier are they compared to subaru 4 pots (not brembo's)..?
I'm all for saving weight me..!
Floyd; how you finding the VF35, still happy and how do you find the spool/lag..?

When i was lOOking at the AP 6 pots, i wrote down £1900. Can't remember the site i saw them on for that though.
For now i've replaced the pads/hoses/fluid (possibly discs). See how that fares, but i feel the brakes on the STi are the flailing part.

Some confusion creeping in here. DO you mean resist fade better or brake harder, two different things.
Fade is when the brakes stop working so well because they are too hot. Too hot comes from making too much heat and not having anywhere for it to go.
6 pot brakes will resist fade better than 4 pot because they are physically bigger so will have more volume to dissipate the heat. So IF YOU BRAKE THE SAME AMOUNT AS WITH 4 POTS then you can brake for longer, they resist fade for longer.
But 6 pot brakes have more area so you can brake harder. With more braking effort they'll actually make more heat than 4 pots. So with more heat but also more volume they're likely to resist fade the same as 4 pots if you use them to the full.

now that would be fun, rang as performance said 6 pots better than 4 pots as better quality parts with 4 pots being phased out, some manufacturers are selling "ap 6 pots" but they are not all ap quality materials

was refering to the 355mm AP kits as to the lower cost parts
the 4pot kits being gradually phased out was the 330mm as AP are pushing the 6pot 330mm...................
and as for the 'cheaper' kits (rather than pukka AP "formula" kits) that certain companies sell then all i said was that you need to ascertain exactly what your getting as some people include lower quality parts...........
hope this clears thing up a little..................alyn
