Do Impreza's have trip computers?

Don't recall they ever have. There is a dual trip counter in the newer models, but that's about it.
It'd be depressing but also useful to have one like on VW's, which gives time and miles (and from that avg mph) plus mpg for the current journey (and doesn't reset unless the engine's off for a while, so if you pull in for a rest half way down the motorway it keeps the last figures), plus current mpg. The last one was fun in 1st gear...

That's right, they don't have one - just the dual trip counter on the newer shape cars.
It's interesting to have one, though. I recently changed my STI for a BMW 330d, which shows both instantaneous mpg and two longer-term averages over user defined periods. Floor the throttle and it immediately crashes into single figures. On a motorway, lift off to gradually slow down and I get well over 50mpg - worth bearing in mind when approaching roundabouts and traffic lights.
Around town, economy depends almost entirely on the number of times I come to a stop and pull away again - so if anyone reading this is ever in support of speed humps, think again: you're killing the planet, and if you don't believe me, drive a car with a trip computer along a road with and without them.
