Default Can anyone see where the leak is from?

Ok ive got a sort of clonking, clicking noise when i brake and its starting to really p*** me off now, so i jacked the car up to have a look, when i was looking i cam across this
Nothing to do with the clonking or clicking noise.
The oil looks like its coming from where the gearbox meets the engine, but not a 100%sure.

Dripping off the steering rack?

Hard to see where it is on those pics, is it from the rear of the sump?

I have a leak there - it's the breather cover plate on the back of the engine block. It's only siliconed, but the Subaru mechnaic who did mine when the block was replaced was a bit stingy. And thus it leaks and I can smell crankcase gasses when it idling and hot.

Never had it fixed as it's a gearbox off job - was waiting for the clutch to go first but it never has

just make sure it is from between the two before you take it to a garage. expect to pay the same labour as you would for a clutch change.
