Gran Tursimo 2000 - new pics!!

I played an early demo of it a few months ago and was very impressed, not by the graphics or anything like that, but by the feel of it - much more fluid than GT and GT2

Is it just me who thinks that GT2000 is an immense rip off? Not as many cars as GT2 and the backgrounds really don't look that impressive...for example look at the first and third pictures posted by DazV and the general blandness of the background scenery.
Have to admit, the PS2 is not impressing me much at the moment...I'll be interested to see how the market responds to the X-Box next year...

There is also Nintendo's new game cube which is coming...
More competition usually means better prices and better machines/games for us - so the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.

Got to say, I've seen it running and it moves at a steady 60fps (very, very smooth)
Cars in the previous game looked great, but were modelled from a couple of hundred polygons. This time, each car is made up of 5,000 polygons and takes the artist a lot longer to model them, hence only 150 cars. The tracks are 50x more detailed.
Screen resolution is 4 times higher (640x480)
New tracks, heat haze effects, sun poking through the trees, buildings, etc...
See a video of the Imprezza from it here:
