Default Rolling road / dyno differernces

I've been on a rolling road at Well lane before in my old car. Rollers in the ground.

What's the difference between this type and the type that require you to remove your wheels and connect up 'machines' to them? What's the best?

Thanks,

Nick

The latter type removes your tyres from the equation but there are still lots of other factors that affect the reading. The only real way tomeasure engine power is with a dynometer; brakes are really only any use as a same-day comparison. Thisll get people arguing!

So what is a dynometer?

Are there any places in the NE or NW that do these?

Thanks,

Nick.
