Left around 12 today, not as good as last year. Expect the football kept the numbers low.

Only saw 2 very quick Scoobies, P20SPD and Zen.....although don't think the Zen car was running as well as it could.

Quite a few Scoobs in the 13's though

saw zen do a 10.4 was it can't remeber what he went up against but i didn't think he got of the line that well but once going seemed really quick not sure about the colour scheme though, some interesting bits in his engine bay though
shame the duke car broke and a few others couldn't be there and the football caused me to leave early but not a bad day out
o did see norris run a 9.6 after he had problems on the line and got knocked out in the first round, witch i think cheered lot people up

I agree with Moley, last year had double the competitors and trade stands.
If you were after a pair of sunglasses or a ****e £10 backbox then it was the place to be!!
Only Zens Impreza and the Norris Evo amongst a very few others made it more interesting then England's display against Ecuador

Thanks for the compliments guys. It was the car's first outing since being totally reworked, just had a few hours on the rollers to get the thing roughly setup. Gearbox problem is nothing serious, just stuck in 2nd gear, shame as it was the best launch despite ditching the launch control early in the day due to causing problems.

No disrespect to your car Paul, it looked, sounded and went great, i especially liked the exhaust sticking out of the front bumper!

My only problem was the event being advertised as something it wasnt, 'massive trade village' and 'all the UK's top tuner's were the phrases being used to sell it. 'unless England reach the last 16' should have been in the small print!!!!

The burgandy wagon(i think it was Lateral performance)looked almost stock compared to most of the pro class cars....but boy did it fly down the strip.

Enjoyed seeing Pauls 10.4 and the Norris evo with the 9.6.

Did anyone else get into the 9,s?

He seemed more than happy to convoy with us

I agree with all written above though. Last year there seemed to be loads more stands and more to do. One walk around and Id seen everything

Had a good chat with Steve, but Paul was looking too scarey in his overalls

What fecking day!

Finished testing the car last night at 10:30, as i am currently using one of Andy Forrest's dog boxes, which is a little different. Eventually went to bed, and woke up at 4:30 to set off down to pod.

Left at 5:30 with David as co pilot, and got to the pod just after 8.

Roll on 10 o clock and the first Pro run is on, and we get the call to make our way down to the start line. Gulp, never raced at pod before, and never had such a feeling of expectation.

Creep up to the line, foot to floor, launch control kicks in, 0.1bar boost, lights go green, and i'm off, whoah!!! **** loads of wheel spin, who didnt lock the DCCD!! clutch to 2nd, no clutch to 3rd, no clutch to 4th, rattled limiter just as i cross the line. 11.24 @124 iirc.

Back to pits, to find a couple of probs. The launch threw a load of oil up the crank breather, covering the underside of the car. Couple of wipes and that was clean, span canister butchered to act as a catch tank.

2nd problem was, i appeared to lost a bolt from the front of the gearbox cradle! Paul very kindly took one from is bumper mounting and gave me that.

3rd problem was that boost was only peaking at 1.5 bar. Oops, thats where we left it during testing last night. Great! It should be 1.7~1.9 bar! I hadn't brought my laptop, and pat wasnt about!

2nd run came at 12, and this time i remembered to lock the diff, but that caused it to bog off the line, and i forgot to turn it off part way up. Anyway, managed an 11.21 @ 124 ish.

Lost my patience, and Simon Norris very kindly lent me his latop to change the boost control, and the launch control levels. Duty cycle went back to previous levels, and launch control went from 6000 to 6500. SO off we go lets test it.

Run 3, at the line against a supra, staged, foot to the floor, boost building, building, launch, **** me, were off, forgot to open the diff once into 3rd, went to 4th, then had to go for 5th before the line, and stuffed it back into 3rd . 11.2 again, but lower terminal. The supra did a 10.5, and i was ahead all the way until the mishap! Doh!

Managed to get to the eliminations, where quite frankly i fecked up, got physced (sp?) out, which isnt like me, and fluffed the 1st to 2nd change, and just couldnt recover! Game over!

Excellent day IMO, very well organised from my experience.

I have to admit I saw your wagon run and when I first saw it i was expecting *normal* Scooby times, boy was I impressed

I also passed you on the M1 heading North around 5 ish

Agreed with comments above, not as good as last year, the stands were rubbish.

We should really get organised so we know who is going... since half of us have still not met ! Moley
Well it is safe to say I've got a tan again and what I noticed more today was the amount of Skylines that were not only running but were about in general.
Paul the new colour scheme looks mint stands out a treat, and yes I must say P20SPD that is quite a car you have there... never ceases to amaze me the amount of effort put into some of these top runners and the different ways that you all go about designing all your under bonnet mods.
It was a shame a few more top cars were not there it would have been very interesting to see all the new layouts for this year.

Good to catch up with Si (fatman) again and well done

I was trying to put a name to the face (which I recognised) But couldn't figure out who it was?

I was with my lil man who was kitted out in Scooby T shirt and cap

Nice one Steven

At events such as Japshow the Pod has that effect on the nerves I found. Suddenly its for real, you can't even pretend its your local B road due to the huge gantry looming at the end of the walled 'tunnel'

Andy - A few issues getting the right parts in the right place at the right time caused a delay with the build. Only got finished at 10:30 Saturday night after 15hrs non stop working on the car.
I had a choice between

A. 2 hrs sleep before setting off on a 14 hr round trip
B. A few cold beers and a good nights kip, followed by a (rare) day off.

I chose the old codger option !

Sorry if I let anyone down.

Andy

Don't worry about it Andy - you do enough miles as it is to get your car to pretty much all the events that count - everyone is allowed a day off once in a while and today was yours

there were a lot of the decent cars that didn't turn up or broke when were there think was just destined to be a dissapointing day.. it must be quite a feeling knowing that so many people go to these shows just to see your car go sure if u had turned up and beat norris in the final with a 8 sec quarter it would have been the best day ever ... zen must have chance getting in the 9's now so ten of the best could be really good this year and we don't mind if u save it for the big occasions, we all need our beauty sleep.... u more than most lol
