Turbo upgrade
Need a bit of advice please people
I have a my99 uk turbo and i'm thinking of upgradeing to a TD05 16g. i already have a 2.5 full de cat and lightend fly wheel and green cotton fillter.
questions.
1.will i need to upgrade the clutch
2.Should i port the headers aswell
3.Will i need to get a 3inch down and center pipe or will my 2.5 be ok
I'm going to add a 255 fule pump as well and uprate the disks and pads
any HELPFULL advice would be much appreciated.
sorry about the spelling by the way but i'm dyslexic

sorry,i dont know any of those answers but i would suggest a remap if you havent budgeted for that already? it can save you from some very large bills later on down the line!hope this helps.i would have thought a 2.5 inch would suffice, and i would wait to see how the clutch reacts before changing it,if it works keep it,otherwise get it changed,i doubt taking the turbo and clutch off at the same time will save any time, they can be done individually

One thing you will need to consider is the increase in torque and your gearbox.
Ported headers would be a good choice, speak to Harvey Smith.
Go for a 3" bellmouth decat downpipe and full 3" system if you can
afford it, the Revolution is excellent both in quality and cost.
Your brakes can never be too big !!!!!

It's not the BHP but the torque that kills the gearbox.
Around 320ftlb and your nearly on it's limit.
The td05 16g is quite capable of that.
Take a look at Andy F's website it's very informative.

2) Yes, if you have a UK car with the 7k limit, the sonner you can get the turbo spooling up the better!
3) Your DP is most likely 3inch at the mouth tapering down to 2.5 inch. 2.5 inch system is -by all accounts- ok up to 350bhp.

My clutch started to slip pretty much straight after adding the TD05 on my UK97. Power roughly 330/ 300. Gearbox was absolutely fine though (even with 87k on the clock)
AP Racing clutch cured the problem but was £600.00 fitted.
The Apexi pcf was the best mod that I ever bought for the car and you'll enjoy it no doubts about that. 2.5" exhaust was fine for my state of mods at the figures quoted above. I was pretty much on the limit of the standard injectors and TMIC so called it a day.
Good luck.

380's I think mate. Certainly were on mine.
Had to get a FPR to stick a bit of extra fuel fuel in addition to an uprated fuel pump but Rich Wilds @ Jap Innovations was running over 380 bhp on the std internals and injectors.
