Unhappy 2.5 or 2.0 engine build

I am running an ex zero sports wrx type ra demo car but on the way home the other day it seems a piston ring has broke and ruined the block, The problem is it has just had £2500 spent on a gearbox rebuild and heads rebuilt and new gaskets 10 days ago so money is very tight. The only salvigeable bits are crank and uprated rods but with the lack of money would the 2.5 short block be a good choice or stick to the 2.0 and build it to take 400bhp. the rest of the engine is PORTED HEADS WITH UPRATED CAMS, 550 INJECTORS, HKS EQUAL LENGTH HEADERS, TWISTED TD06 ON CUSTOM DOWNPIPE LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL GEMS ECU ETC!!!! what would be the best short engine on a budget. I am swaying to the 2.5 but will they handle 400bhp as standard and would my turbo be o.k with the 2.5 as they don,t like to rev high i believe??? I know a lot of people are getting these convertions so has anybody on here got a similiar spec and had any problems???

My mate has just had an EJ25 conversion on his MY95 WRX RA . Great conversion the torque is amazing. He now has to upgrade his turbo and also his ecu. This can be expensive but if your TD06 is capable of coping with the power and your ecu is capable of running with the EJ25 then your already half way there. Well worth the money in my opinion.

You are looking in the wrong 'place'.
go to projects, and search. There are many who have taken the 2.5 to 400 x 400 and a fair way beyond.
In For Sale is a 2.5 short engine for £1900 (TimW), bargain.

Use this Snet fully!

Good luck, you will finish up with a great car.

i'm running a simular spec, with a 2.5,got a twisted hybrid gt30,everything modded, and it goes well, very well.the tq with the 2.5 is amazing,no lag whatsoever, and it just pushes itself so quickley upto the limit, even if you do lose about 1000 rpm it doesnt matter cos you've got instant power from low down revs,if you need to no more send me a pm and i'll link you into some of the specs.and it'll easily handle 400,mines going upto 500 next month, but thats is on fully uprated internals

cheers

Thanks for the reply's, I think the 2.5 is the way to go but it will have to stay standard until funds allow!!!! I also checked out the projects and they are a good read but i can't find the short engine for sale, could 911 post up the link if possible?
