Anybody used chips away in Preston?
Got a small scratch on the near side front door which needs sorting....
I've heard mixed reports about Chips away in general, anybody shed any light?

These guys are mostly franchises I think ? Thus the quality seems to differ in different areas. Recommendations are the best thing as you say - Had a 'reasonable' job done on mine in Surrey but they had two goes at it as I wouldn't accept first attempt. Mine's started to show through after a year or so as well so you might need to redo it again at a later date - not sure if this is just down to the franchise I used or what to generally expect from Chips Away. Botom line is it's a very cost effective local repair and the technology in the paint matching is quite impressive !
Good luck!

hello mate, i think the general consensus was about which franchise is better then others.
it seems the quality of work can vary depending on the ability of the franchisee!!!
best post up for referrals in your specific area, that might give you a better idea...

I haven't used Preston, but have used Chips Away in Congleton. As others have said and as it sounds like you were already aware, it is a franchise and the quality of the work is down to the guy who works on your car. I suspect that exactly what you are having done makes a difference as well.
My own experience was excellent. It's over 2 years since I had the work done and it still doesn't show.

Here in County Durham I got quoted £ 160 for 3 small scratches on the rear Spoiler . He said it was due to the colour . WR Blue
What a waste of time as you woulds still be able to see it.
Not what you want to hear

I've been quoted £170 for a small 2" scratch on the bottom of the nearside front door and a couple of very small indentations on the side sill directly beneath.
The chips away guy has stated that I won't be able to tell when it's done!
Hope he's right!!

I used a guy in Manchester for a chip on the top of my bumper, I did most of the prep work, he just did the painting. I buffed out the laquer lines etc but the job looks spot on
