Default New super duper Optimax

I just Called Shell Customer service and they say the new Optimax is not just a rumour and it is being released soon..........in the Autumn to be precise, but no actual release date. Rumor is that is is going to be higher octane and likley to be 100 ron too. They also said it would be rolled out to all Stations simutaneously and not region by region like the Tesco stuff.

Who cares how much.

When fuel prices increase why do people go on and on about it?
WE NEED IT, SO JUST GO BUY IT or get a push bike.

Why buy a Scooby if fuel prices worry you.

Oh, I also hate threads on Scooby boards that begin "what is the cheapest"

Damn, you own a scoob, who wants cheapest?

OK nuff said, had my rant and I appoligise SORRY

So if this ****s gonna be rated at 100 RON, will it be ok in cars that have been mapped to take normal optimax, ie 98 RON??

yes, higher octane is good and just means the car will operate optimally, lower octane is when you have to worry...

Well I've just called them to see if there was any truth in this.....

and they say no - Optimax is not being withdrawn, nor is it being replaced with a higher octance product.

They admitted they were having a number of distribution problems which is why it's scarce at the moment, however I was told these problems whould hopefully be fully resolved over the next week.

funny...i just called Shell Customer services:

They said there has been a shortage of fuel due to transport issues and all should be resolved by the end of the week....SHELL: +44 (0) 20 7934 1234

They said they have no news of any change in fuel to 100ron....

will try calling again, see if they give me a different answer...

thanks for all you guys out there finding this information out, but you really must have time to waste. What bearing does knowing a higher octane fuel is coming out at some stage in the future hold over the present

I'll be sticking with the Shell brand and its top fuel, however i struggle to care when the fuel will arrive and how much etc it will cost, speculation will achieve nothing so i'll be sitting tight not getting into a flap over it all

What a cheeky git. I called shell not because I was on the edge of my seat with excitement over whether a new fuel was coming out, but because there hasn't been any readily available locally for a while, and it was starting to grate. I also thought these rumours of a higher octane replacement coming out were a load of b0llocks and wanted confirmation, which I received.

ASDA i don't even think there is a ASDA forecourt in C. London is there

When playing with Subarus cost becomes an irrelevant factor

Another brilliant post by Mr Import

So if fuel reaches £2 a litre you'll keep smiling will you?

What about £3 or maybe even £4 still happy?

Honestly sometimes you really are a dumb ***

PMSL... If i owned a £100K+ car, that would be a good reason not to worry about fuel prices....though i think it should bother everyone how much TAX this ******* goverment gets away with on fuel!!

I love 95Ron. Rather than 97/98/99 RON that left stagnating in forecourt tanks for months on end loosing octane, until an Impreza/EVO comes along to fill up and turn a cocklink into a christams tree.

Prehaps my salary is too high for the "dumb ***", but yes, if a litre of high octane fuel (which I require to run my scoob) reaches £2 or even £3 I will still pay it and the government know this.

I hav'nt bought the scoob to sit and look at it on the drive from my window.

I've not once said I am smiling at the cost of fuel, I just see no reason for moaning about it.
It's not going to get any better

OK lets put it this way, most peoples financial resource are finite, therefore using even your silly 'I'll buy it what ever it cost' model, the extra money you will spend on fuel means that you'll have to reduce what you spend on other things.
Therefore the cost of fuel is always a concern and definitely something to moan about.
People saying I'll buy this new stuff whatever it cost is just giving a green light to the greedy fuel companies to charge more.

PS if money is no object, get yourself down to one of the BP stations selling the 103RON stuff, that's a real bargain only £2.42 a litre, let us know how you get on with it!
