I have blown my engine in my 95wrx saloon,i am going to look at a engine in durham on saturday which came out of a 95 wrx write off,somebody told me import engine numbers are untraceable,if this is right how can i check if the engine is stolen as its a private sale?

you will not know until you go to change the engine number on your log book, then the dvla will send the police round to confiscate your car

yes i do know that,but do imports have engine number written on log book?

some do, it depends on how switched on the importer was in actually finding them!!

the DVLA never seem to have enforced the practice to notify them of these only chassis I.D.??
