Talking Just had car mapped at scoobyclinic.....what a difference!!

Well its been done almost 2 weeks now and I cant stop driving the blo*dy thing, if anyones considering having their car mapped...DO IT!! Get to scoobyclinc, have a word with the lads with what you want, have a chat with Kev to see how stressed/busy he is , get it booked in and let pat work his magic.

As usual top quality service from the lads there who also sorted me out with a very good deal (cheers Kev & Ads). A few probs appeared during the mapping but after a few hours of head scratching (ive got used to this with my car, personaly i think its cursed ) and replacing several parts it runs spot on.......and **** me its quick

Oh by the way Ads I missed a gear for the first time last night, and I swear I could hear your voice on me shoulder laughing and saying "..told you so.." . Thought id been doing so good aswell

Sounds a bit dear? I thought the rr time was included in the price with most re-maps?

Nope, think you'll find in all the small print that you need to pay for rr time on top (at least the other mappers I considered).

about norm for a Tek3 ????

I don't think so !

Powerstation & WRC Tech both do them for around the £500+vat mark. And that includes as much dyno time as necessary to get the job done...

Yeh it's £500+vat from pstation but that isn't forever, as it's still on a groupbuy. If you're mapping a classic you have to factor in a 3port solenoid (£141 inc vat) as well, as most of them need one. So you're looking at £728.50 all in. But yeh rr time is included for the 1st time

The first time a car is mapped the mapper has to pay for the Ecutek license. If the same car is mapped again it is much cheaper bacause the license is already paid.

EcuTeK remap with license = £650 +vat (£763.75 inc)

EcuTeK remap without license = £400 +vat (£470 inc)

Above figures from Zen website.

ECUTEK licence works out to £250 according to that.

I had mine remapped by steve cotton at www.cotcomp.co.uk last friday,he had trouble getting the car to boost properly so spent a couple of hours messing around with it had to fit new pipes from boost solonoid and clean it out, and washed the car all for a grand sum of £580 gbp all included, top job

That very much depends what mods you have mate, on a UK car with a std turbo, two very prominent mappers have told me that they are rarely necessary. They are, however, better for boost control.

Also, you can get one for about 30 quid from Salvage!

That Ecutek license thing is a racket, would it not be cheaper to buy and install an aftermarket ECU then have it mapped at much reduced rates each time?

My Emerald ECU was approx £800 with everything including wiring loom, sensors etc etc, full mapping is approx £250 a day after that

Hi,
to set matters straight we charge £550.00 for a tech 3 re-map including the initial licence fee of £150.00, rolling road is charged at £75.00 for the first hour and £50.00 per hour thereafter, we usually end up at a deal price of £100.00, for that you get a run before we carry out any mods giving us a base figure to start with, as we map it you get a number of runs untill its finished, depending on the car it can take as few as 12 runs but if the car has problems we can do as many as 40 + runs, we then finalise on the road.

Hope this clears up a few things,
by the way I reply to all Emails daily, in the unlikly event of any one not getting a reply please ring, if you get the answer phone simply leave a message and we will get back to you.
Cheers,
Kev.
