Question new guy needs help

hi all got my first scoob today it's a turbo wagon classic auto so here's my question in front of the gear selector there is a button/switch what does it do [my consol has been painted so no lettering on it] it's not hold or power and i'm lost as to what it could be will someone please put me out of my misery please

Never had an auto scoob, but there was a button in the place you describe on my old soarer auto. It was so you could engage drive without pressing the brake pedal. i.e if the microswitch on the pedal ever failed this would override it, worth a try.

I may be wrong but worth a shot, has it got a clifford alarm by any chance? if so it may be the valet switch.

sorry no clifford it's a toad but the button is factory sounds like it might be for taking the brake pedal out of system for engaging drive will try tommorow
