Travelling t'north - M1 > A1(M) or M1 > M18 > A1(M)
#1
Going up north tomorrow from Leicester and don't want to get stuck in a jam (need to be there on time).
Should I take the M1 past Shefield and Leeds, or take the M18 and join the A1(M) sooner? Will be going past Leeds about 7am, so should be quite either way?
Any one on those bits of road at that time??

I drive these roads all the time, going to and from Newcastle, the M1-M18-A1 is the quicker of the two, buy about 10-15 mins with no hold up on either. At that time traffice jams shouldn't be a problem, best thing to do is try and catch some traffice updates on your way up.
Skip.

I tend to do that trip most Monday mornings....and normally hit Leeds at 07.30 - 08.00...the top end of the M1 (Sheffield & Leeds is a nightmare at that time. I think your best bet is to do the M18/A1 side to miss out on Sheffield and Leeds
