Gridlock Mikey Myth 'Anti Lift, Anti roll' Powerstation
Anti lift/roll/dive kits
I have driven cars with some and all of these things on them. You know where they make the biggest difference?............ On track and down the pub. That's it. On the road, driving normally or even spirited down a favourite B-road there is next to no percieveable difference. FACT!
This is what was said by Mikey. Is this true I had the stage one tuning kit from Powerstation on Friday (not as friendly as I thought they would be also didn't really explain what had been done to the car unlike WRC Technologies but anyway....). I must say I think it's brilliant really transformed the way my car drives I don't want to say how yet just in case my mind is playing tricks. This was driving spirited down A and B roads, round roundabouts (normal everyday turning corners, etc).
Any comments (note I also have the Toyo T1-R loads better than than the factory ones for grip and road noise) so far can't compare the life yet but been on for about 6 - 7000 miles and tread left.
Lets see if it's a myth (and so I need to go to the out-patients) or it does give benefits.

I must admit I saw no benefit when I put the ALK initially although I'm told you need the geometry doing when you add this anyway. Only got the geometry done when I had the AST's fitted so cant really comment against this one particular mod.
Agree with Powerstation though. Think I got them on a busy day but I arrived at 9.30 am (after a 4 hour drive down) got shown in to the waiting room and didn't see another member of staff until nearly 18.00 when they told me the car was done. Expected some updates but never mind. Just glad I had gone down with a mate.

Hate to say it but powerstation are useless!! I had a very busy day and so booked my car in with them and arrived at 10.00 as asked (this is months ago now) and they told me it would be done within 2 hours. Ended up leaving at 4.50 right into the rush hour with my day ruined. To be fair still but a big smile on my face because the car was a lot faster but then that smile dissapeared less than a hundred miles later when the engine melted from running too lean.. Great Job!! NOT

loler oh not just me then I left the side room and watched as they fitted the kit, etc. Yes I got wheels aligned too but from Mikeys comment he listed a few items, anti rool, alk, etc so I thought it included all these.
WRC Technologies give you a loan car even if it's just for say half a day so you can go to the shops or something and the explanation at the end of the work is really good.
The only thing that was said to me (relating directly to the car) was "watch how you reverse out" and "the printout of the wheel alignment should be in the car" it wasn't it was still on the printer loler but but but the car's handling was transformed so I forgive you

Can I try to balance the veiws above?
Firstly, i think it is very refreshing for opinions to be expressed on Snet without F words and crass remarks; as I say refreshing.
I 'found' Powerstation through Snet.
They have been great on my Hill climb Sti v3 and now even sponsor me in terms of product testing. I wanted to say that from the start.
However, I am pleanty old enough to have experienced 'specialists' over 30 years of car enthusing so feel qualified to compare with others.
PowerStation operate in a professional environment, the premises and the equipment and the people.
For Health and Safety they must really keep the 'public' (customers) out of the shop. When did you last walk around the workshop of a Dealership?
They are busy with a full schedule and like the rest of us can get on better 'on their own'. The waiting room is good, and the coffee free, and toilets clean even! I do agree some TLC over a long period is nice though.
I am sure they will take this on board. The best bit is to visit Lichfield's next door...
To the car. The job they can do with the right parts to compliment each other and the demon alignment I think you all agree transforms the Impreza, sometimes maybe things go wrong (they are human) and they would I'm sure consider all comments from us all.
Mod the chassis to the full extent and things really warm up as I can prove on my car.(which is not the exception on here)
Finally, I would say; find a specialist you feel right with and can do what you want to the level you demand and stick with them. They can take some finding (all marques of car, just try finding a good 911 man). Maybe PowerStation is not right for everyone, but are right for me and a few others.
Good luck to you all and enjoy your modified Imprezas, just like me:

running a business is hard
you simply can not please 100% of the people, 100% of the time
i learnt this within 2 weeks of running my own, that is just the way it is,
powerstation on the whole get very good reviews from most places, it only takes 1 PITA punter to arrive late, or mess somebody about and it throws the rest of the days planning out the window, throw in maybe one person phoning in sick or any other number of variables, and its easy to let times slip.
it would be nice if this always went 100%, but they never do, as the British are a PITA IMO

An interesting point that should be considered when reading posts shouting how good their car felt after these mods were performed: --->
MOST, if not ALL imprezas that have never had the suspension geometry checked will be out by quite a large degree to adversly affect the handling, as they are miles out from new at the factory (god knows why )
Thus a simple 4 wheel laser alignment check and adjustment, that can be done at ANY garage (no need for any specialists) with such facilities will release a VERY noticable improvement in handling.
Funny to notice how cars that have never had their geometry properly checked totter off to a tuners and have various ALK's and prodrive geometry etc. And then notice marked improvement (no sh*t), yet they never had the benefit of realising if their stock gemotry was correct in the first place - as most aren't.
2 pence spent...TTFN

Id rather let Powerstation get on with the work on my car then give me updates every bloody 10 mins, End of the day you pay them to do the work on your car and not keep you entertained incase you get bored.
Cant believe people are moaning, there waiting room has magazines, Playstation and a drink machine, what more do you want!

I've had a few bits and pieces done at Powerstation and whilst I think they know their stuff and workmanship is good overall imo they are starting to suffer a bit from their own success.
I think they have too much work on and are run ragged - as a consequence customer service is slipping and on more than one occasion I have ending up leaveing really late or without all the work I wanted completed.
It's a real shame because I think they have it all, great people, facilities etc but reputation is everything and signs are it's becoming tarnished.
imo the guys need to get some more people, open up some more of those ramps and get things back on track..

Rich would be forever dragging me out of the waiting room if you had pole dancers in there and you'd never get your car finished.

Oh dear I'm just giving my experience but the main part of My post was to see what people thought about the comments that ALK, roll, etc make no difference on normal roads/driving. Please none of this ---> I believe I'm asking a reasonable question if you can't contribute don't post here. Thanks for all the other responses.

I went to Powerstation years ago to get some work done, some guy called Nick I think! No complaints about anything, I wandered round the car as Nick worked on it and we talked while he worked. I only got booted out when they did the bumpstear thingamajig. The only problem I had was finding them in the first place

At the end of the day I was told to arrive at 09.30. I arrived there on the nose after a 05.15 departure from my house in Yorkshire. I was not told how long the AST's would take to fit so sat there patiently. At dinnertime the workshop went in to darkness everything went quiet and when I went to see what was going on I found I was locked in with no one around to see what was going on. Evidently lunch @ Powerstation is exactly that for everyone. Obviously I didnt fancy wondering about the workshop to find an alternative exit (not wanting to get in to trouble for being somewhere I shouldn't have been) so again had no choice but to sit there. At 14.00 I asked one of the guys roughly what time the car would be ready. I wasn't bothered about the time I'd been there I just wanted something to eat.............I was told "shouldn't be long"! At 17.30 I hear the car reverse and finally we are on our way.........or are we?
No. One of the guys had shoved the buttons in on my Clifford Blackjaxx so hard it had broken the pressure plate. Took me 30 minutes to get around it (alarm going and everything) and knew I wouldn't be able to stop on the way home for fear I wouldn't get the car moving again. I couldn't even get out of the car to complain to them as I'd have had to reset the Blackjaxx which was a risk I just couldn't take.
I'm not bitter (despite how the above comes across) and I appreciate they were busy. In truth though how long does it take for someone to stick their head around the door and say "car should be ready in x time, sorry about the wait". Its not like its going to put them back an hour.
I sorted out the Blackjaxx with a new button and was happy again. All forgiven........The work they did was fantastic.

I think the 'classic' mods to the Impreza make a big difference.
The car is more posative and sure footed.
If you insist on blasting down country roads then the ALK/ARB's will soon run out of effect, and you are looking then at some serious changes.
Have the mods done and the drive it 'properly' then a set of bars and especially a demon alignment to the right angles will be great.
If you want the car to really stay with you you need to think more about WHERE you drive it.
If you run B roads a lot then too stiff etc will be slower, so moving to coil-overs needs some care (not dismisal).
Run a lot of A roads/track days and the soft set-up will be weak.
the more mods you go for the more focused the car becomes.
Prodrive set up the WRC cars radically different for Gravel or tarmac. The stock Impreza is a great compromise as we all appreciate.
My Sti is reasonably well modified, and it is fab on a smooth hill climb/race track, but a rutted bumpy 'farm type' B road? I'll slow down thankyou.
This is exactly how i want the car as it is a racer first and foremost.
Maybe this helps?
Graham.

Just picked up my MY00 Turbo 2000 and i was thinking of having Powerstation's stage 1 tuning package ready for my new wheels and have an alignment done at the same time, whats the difference between a standard alignment and this "Demon" alignment mentioned?
