I had front/rear ARBs, droplinks, anti-lift kit, bumpsteer mod and fast road geometry done on an otherwise standard STI5 Type R. It honestly made a massive difference to the feel, grip, and overall handling of the car. I really can't describe how much different/better it felt afterwards - and it was pretty sweet before I took it in. That was my 3rd Impreza so I know pretty well what they feel like to drive.

IMO that package is the best value for money (at about £500 all in) mod you can do on a classic Impreza, honestly.

There isn't much more to be said.(imo)
The mods are not bullsh!t
The mods work
Add more to the car and things get hot, but you need a safe place to explore/enjoy them; a race track is a good idea.
Sadly none of us can enjoy the UK roads anymore.

My last shot at Chassis mods, Powerstation and enjoying the Impreza in safety:

All down to Whiteline, AST's and a Powerstation set-up by Curtis.

My life in their hands, and not a single regret!

I can't comment on having just the ALK fitted, but when I had my UK STi the first thing I had done was the ALK, front/rear ARB, solid drop links and Geometry. This TOTALLY transformed the car and in my view was the best £500 spent on a STi.

ALi-B,
From my experience a geometry session is not that "Simple". I say this, because I have been to half a dozen so called specialists and out of those only two did the job properly. Namely PowerStation and Tyres Northampton. I am sure there are plenty more out there that know what they are doing, but some of the ones I have used in the past fell well short.

Regards,
Shaun.

Well that's hit and miss on your behalf, even the the tuners acclaiming themselves to be "the" geometry experts for "so and so" type of car can and will fall foul, depedning on who they employ to do the job and their eqiupment.

I shouldn't really say this, but I recently e-bayed a wheelforce laser computer that would fit up to your normal 4 post ramp. The thing was useless. Drive a car on, set it up, then drive it round the block. Then re-check it, and it would be any number of minutes out from previous. So to set a car correctly, it needed a bit of 2nd guessing to know what will happen with regard to the poor tolerances of this multi-thousand pound "investment" in measurement technology. Any numpty can read the figures off the display - it's experience with the equipment moreso than the particular car itself.

Maybe this could explain your problems in the past.

Very good point hey thanks all. It proves Im not mad I knew I could feel the difference.

Stops better corners fantastic, accelerates out of a bend in a straight line.
