Default £2000 well spent.

I've just had a w/end with my transformed scooby. Anyone considering PPP/Package, i can honestly say it's money well spent. I opted for a non-package option:

Afterburner Decat Downpipe £200
Afterburner Decat Pipe £100
Afterburner Centre £100
Ninja Backbox £225
Simota High Flow Panel Filter (Free with above)
Walbro 255L Fuel pump £82
Ported & wrapped headers & uppipe (Harveys Option 2) £400
Fitting £200
Andy F remap £600

Thanks for Scoobyworld for the parts, Harvey for his work on the headers (& customer service) & Andy F who worked his magic doing the mapping.

The car is much nicer to drive. It's pickup early on, means you don't need to change gear to get a move on. You can hear to turbo spooling much earlier on. Full boost comes on about 3,200 and when it comes, you're planted in the back of your seat.

OK, the above setup is quite noisy (i'm probably gonna get a bung/resonator), but when it's on full boost, it's worth living with it, it screams down the road.

Thar car is stunning. I'm off to Dastek shortly for a RR session, to find out what power/torque it's achieving.

This game is definitely addictive, i've already enquired about future mods (20g etc).

Glad to hear you like it mate.

I'm just in the process of changing the ppp with TSL 333 remap to full decat; harvey ported headers and uppipe and andy f remap sometime next month. Reassuring that you are happy.

Must admit I was all for buying the 20g turbo until Harvey told me to hang fire unless I was planning to add the FMIC etc which to be honest I dont think I will do. Refreshing to find someone who offers such sound advice instead of trying to actually sell you something.

Yeah, Harvey's a good guy, with sound advice and comments.

Andy was a great guy too; letting you know what's going on, what he's tweaking and everything about the process. I was asking loadsa questions, just being nosey, as i was interested to see what it was doing.

I'd be very interested to hear your comments about the difference over the TSL with the Andy F map & Harveys parts. As i was going to go for the TSL, but chose this route over it. Let us know the difference.

If i get a chance, i don't know what to do next. Andy reckoned a 20g and induction kit. If that should be used with a FMIC (thought STi top mounts were good for 400+??), that defo puts the price out of my range, but if that's not needed, i can start saving/dreaming of more mods. TBH, i think the Whiteline kit might be next...

I must admit I'm still tempted by the 20g..........its one of those things if i dont do it now I never will.

Andy did say that the exhaust and turbo change would be good for about 360 - 380 whilst retaining the standard sti TMIC. I'm assuming the stock turbo is only good for a maximum of 340. I just dont want to spen loads of money on the turbo and be disappointed.

I'll be sure to let you know what I do and think. Mapping and bits should be done for the 1st week in July.

Gaz, im at a similar spec to you, although im yet to port my headers and then the up pipe will be going on.

Im then hoping to go down the FMIC and 20g route

You decided to give the scooby another chance then? Wasn't it you that was disappointed with it after the mods??

You getting Harvey to do your headers/up-pipe?

I think if i can get a quiet induction kit, i'll do that and a 20g next. Andy reckoned about 380 from that. He said the TMIC is good for over 400, which i doubt i'll ever see the light of day.

I reckon i'll have to go out in someones car with that spec before i splash out on it. I don't want to compromise driveability for bigger bhp.

Is ported headers better than aftermarket stainless steel ones?

Some aftermarket ones can be good build quality, others are not and seem to cause problems, these headers flow much better than the std exhaust manifold, once mapped allow better torque and stronger midrange, but will find out very soon..

Yes mate it was me, A buddy talked me into keeping it and im gonna give it a chance, mod it some more and see what happens. Deep down i never wanted to get rid of it as i really like it, it just felt gutless.. even @ 320bhp.

I'll be porting the headers myself, I build prototype engines for a living and have all the porting tools at home.

Then its gonna be a FPR, injectors, Bigger blower and possibly a FMIC...

I also have someone pretty special doing my mapping so we'll see what happens

If all else fails then i'll have to cross that bridge when i come to it.

Andy has commented that mine will be in the 310-350bhp range, but a go at Dastek will confirm. Whatever it is, my car is very far from gutless. It pulls so hard. I was reckoning that a friend couldn't take a tenner off the dash before 120, maybe i could test that on an airfield sometime

What's FPR anyway?

I'd like to hear what you think after your visit to Andy....

Don't replace the fuel pressure regulator needlessly.
Are you upping pressure to extend the fueling range of the injectors? If not an FPR may be pointless.

Mate, wouldn't the tenner just fly straight into his lap as soons as you put your foot down? Unless you were planning to afix it to your dash

That's part of the trick!! Then they'd have to scramble over the seats/on the floor etc.

OK smarty pants, i was thinking blue-tak.

Would be an interesting test though...

I just didn't wanna see your mate get an easy tenner! That's optimax money you know!! I wouldn't use Bluetac, it leaves an unsightly smear. I'd go for double sided sticky pads from WhSmiths or similar.

And no, I've not done it myself, but may wel do once I've got the bigger turbo and remap done!!!

Yes i would be extending the fueling range, but also the FPR will provide better atomisation by providing the higher fuel pressure.
