Had a bump in the car yesterday, totally not my fault, proceeding down the road and some old git pulled out from being parked at the roadside, scraping his front off-side bumper down the entire left side of my STI

Spoke to some mates about the issue of insurance and I've got mixed replies:

(1) One mate said to telephone the other persons insurance and claim direct from them.

(2) One mate said to telephone my own insurance and have them deal with it, as if it wasn't my fault then they should be able to claim the entire outlay from the other persons insurance therefore unaffecting my NCD.#

I'm with Privilege, fully comp, 8 years NCD protected and moter legal protection.

This is my first accident and therefore first time I'm needing to speak to insurance about a claim, so it a bit of a minefield to me.

Can anyone offer advice? I've got until Monday before I can telephone either insurance companies.

go through your own ins if you have protected NCD, they will get the best for you,
If you just go through his they will do ONLY what they need to,IMO
