Catalyst converters
i know that all cars made after 1992 have to have a cat converter and your car will fail the mot without 1.
althought the moddifiy scene with scooby owners is massive.
what i want to no is do u still have cat converters on your exhaust systems?
People who modify the turbocharged engine want maximum powerout of them and a cat converter is going to kill it.
what happens if u got stopped by the police and your car hasnt got 1 on it, just a straight thru system. is it somethinbg the police look at??
are they aware of it??
please discuss because i dont want to get it **** with the law although i want the best power from my car

Modern sports cats are well able to handle the bhp of any mods i am sure. They are rated anyways to tell you what they can handle so they certainly wont stop you getting what you want out of your car.
For me, i want to be street legal at all times, so i went sports cat when i had my car mapped.
I am a little miffed though, cus i have waited 3 years for my first MOT, and when i get the nice new certificate to say it has passed, there is no ******* emissions sheet with it! LOL.
I wanted to know what the co of my car was with the sports cat on.
Nver mind, it passed that is all i need to know. LOL

You don't have to have a cat but you do have to meet emission levels that usually require a cat. The emission laws per vehicle changed between Aug 1992 and Aug 1994 so not all 1992 cars had/have to comply. Dept of Transport or whatever they are called now have booklets on the details. Cops sometimes did roadside checks on emissions with £60 fine if you failed. Doubt if points were added but not sure. dl
