Being beaten in a race by another car has been scientifically shown to reduce the length and thickness of the penile shaft, and to significantly reduce both the mass and sensitivity of the glans. The only cure is to find some way of minimising the defeat by discounting the other vehicle in terms of age, handling and perceived coolness or desirability.

Highly unreliable???!! It's a 20+ year old design that still manages to outlast an ej20. IME they're tough as old boots and come specced to a standard that a uk/wrx would sacrifice a left nut for.

Just about to go into a dual carriageway, and the young lad was looking well smug.
I start thinking, whats the bets he has loads more power than standard.
So, childish I know, when on dual I'm curious so floor it, and pull over to inside lane straight away so he can go past. He looks surprised but fair play starts to reel me in but very slowly, but can't get by before next roundabout.
As we are slowing down, hes going right and me left. His expression has changed to a sort of - ok fella, got me there.
Because my car is bog standard looking, but running 273/273, I'm guessing the smugness came from that.

My old 2wd saff cos had just a stainless exhaust and a bleed valve and felt quicker than my current RB5 and previous mr2 turbo.

yeah no way unreliable
my mate had his for 6/7 years 150k odd miles before any engine trouble and that was only due to drifting at stupid speeds on the local airfield. only thing that used to go pop was 3rd gear on the mt75 box everything else was pretty sound.

The cossie is just like the scooby in many ways.. Its a pretty relaible car as standard if you dont drive it like a c*nt all the time and keep it maintained.. Same with modifications too, it depends how well the engine has been built..
Oh and most of the owners are a paranoid wreck too!
So thats three things in common

I refer the honourable **** to my comments which I post every single time one of these "I was beat" (should be "beaten"!!) posts is reported. Ergo, why does it have to have been a modded car that whoops their ***? Accept it, scoobs are not the fastest cars on the road, in fact 95% are only really modestly quick!!
dave.
But Evo's are
flash hood at the ready....

I used to have a stage 3 tuned Escort Cosworth, power was around 330 BHP.There are plenty of 400BHP + out there as you found out!
As for being unreliable that's rubbish! If they are set up correctly then they are fine, just like any other turbo car.The cossie 'YB' bottom end is one of the strongest around, unlike the Scoobies.
