Default Clutches and Slipping in 3rd!

Hi All,

My car has started slipping in third gear when i try to accelerate from 2k RPMS. The revs pick up but dont seem to go anywhere until around 5k RPMS!

Is this the sign of a knackered clutch or something else?

If i do a 4k launch, it clears up but then a couple of hours later when i go back out in the car its back!!!

Whats the rough cost for a clutch these days of a MY51Bug WRX?

Cheers

Organic is the regular fibrous material that everyone knows on clutches. then you have ceremetallic which is a very aggressive substance that is necessary for race cars. Need steel flywheels too.

If we can help you with the clutch just call us on Monday.

Good luck David APi

PM Sent David

One thing i did do was put the handbrake on and put the car into third. From there lift the clutch slowly and the car did stall... if it was slipping or going I would have thought the car would have kept running?

Would have thought that it would be more noticeable in 5th gear. That's what I found.

Try accelarating in 5th gear from around 2500 - 3000rpm, you should find out very soon if you have clutch slip or not.

Started doing it in second today and third. Just as boost comes on. Did a 4k rev start and it was cleared up again. Surely it would do it all the time in every gear?

Hasnt done it in 5th or 4th yet...

Just dont want to pay out for a clutch if its not that... going on hols in a few weeks!!
