apparantly, and this is what i was told by api impreza whe i rung them a fortnight ago, there is a little gadget under the bonnet that they remove and then they replace it with another little gadget. then they have to change the clocks on the car so as to show in mph. takes about half hour to do thats why i wanted bf to take car there as they look like they know their stuff and best of you they sponser this site.

on the MY93 you fit a small box containing cogs inline with the speedo cable, it splits just up from the gearbox and this is where it fits.

On the EVO it was a divide by 0.6 box on the signal wire from the magnetic pickup from the gearbox. Just spliced into the wire. This corrects the speedo and removes the 112mph speed limiter in one go.
I would have thought that newer sccobies would be the same ?

how much is the conversion????
ps: i've been warned against it by a few people.
a) old scoobs tend to go bang being driven at consistent high speeds
b) the license will end up on a long vacation to wales
c) doing 150mph in a 10 year old car is not the safest of manouvres
d) how often do most people venture over 100?
i use it as a form of "personal" restriction on me!!!!

The Rig, here is a de-limiter, which I believe is for models up to MY98 when they went from mechanical to electronic.
(mine was an MY97 and had the one below, cost ? cant remember £30 )
http://importsolutions.co.uk/cable_conver.asp#
And it does go "in-line", in the cable feed from the gearbox. If you open the bonnet, stand at the drivers side, look down onto the gearbox from drivers side of the intercooler, you will see the cable.
The only other thing you have to do ( if it was being SVA'd ) to the speedo;
( and this is a tip I was given) is black out the "k" in the kph on the speedo fascia. No need to change fascias and snap needles
( because if you do attempt to change fascias, there is a good chance you will)

The 180kph speedo works out to 111.83mph so when your off the clock at 180kph the limiter kicks in.
Therefore fitting a mph converter inline between the clocks and gearbox changes the speed reading to MPH and in turn removes the 180kph/112mph limiter. making the clocks max speed 180MPH be very optimistic to hit this speed albeit not impossible after spending thousands.
I have used two different kinds, one that fits on the gearbox side, and more recently one that fits behind the clocks, prefer this type to be honest.
hope this helps
