Default HOW MUCH ?????????????

RANG ROBINSONS TODAY, MAIN SUBARU DEALERS IN ROCHDALE
NORTH WEST, WANTED A PRICE ON A NEW LAMBDA SENSOR FOR MY CLASIC 94 WRX.
£225 PLUS VAT, AFTER ABOUT 20 MINS OF UNCONCIOUS SHAKING I DECLINED THE OFFER TO ORDER ONE, AS A SECOND MORTGAGE WAS OUT OF THE QUESTION.

I DEFINATLY NEED A NEW ONE AS THE ONE IN MY EXHAUST WAS RIPPTED OUT BY A STRAY HOUSE BRICK, SOMEBODY HAD DECIDED TO LEAVE IN THE ROAD.

ANY HELP IN OBTAINING A 3 WIRE LAMBDA SENSOR FOR LESS THAN THE PRICE OF A SMALL COUNTRY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

TONY.

Univeral lambda sensors have three wires usually though, so youll need to be a little tricky as a Subaru OEM part will only have two...

A 1994 WRX uses a two-wire part surely?

Are you sure that its the original part? You can adapt a cheaper 3-wire lambda sensor to fit...

Thumbs up

Had a look at the wiring diagram today should have done this earlier it’s a really simple principle.
Red wire is 12v feed; black wire is neg or ground this is for the heater element
within the sensor.
White wire is the signal wire outputting 0.1 to 0.9 volts to the ecu for monitoring uses sensor body for negative or ground return of sensor wire.

So bought a universal 3 wire sensor
2 white wires, 1 black wire.
The two white wires are for the heater element no need to worry about
Polarity as it doesn’t matter which way DC flows though a simple heater element.
Black wire is sensor wire, again outputting 0.1 to 0.9 volts and using the sensor body for negative or ground return.

Fitted and wired in about 20mins.
Car is now running a perfect 14.7 AFR on idle as opposed to a slightly rich
12.9 AFR with the faulty sensor.

Problem sorted should learn to look at the wiring diagrams first and not to worry so much.
Hope this might help anybody else out in the future.

Thanks for all your input guys.

Tony
