To ISOFIX or not
I have a MY04 wrx and am looking at the second stage child seat, going from a baby carrier.
What do you have?
Are you using the ISOFIX?
thanks in advance

If you can use ISOFIX, do it. Attachments for child seats which are engineered into the car design. More reliable than standard fitting methods which are prone to people getting it wrong, especially if swapped between cars regulalry.

Another vote for Isofix.
We have a Britax Duo Isofix that has the ability to be fitted using seat belts for cars without isofix. Can be quite handy, don't know if all isofix seats are like this..?
Bought ours from Halfords in the sale two years ago and paid £55 (50% off)..! Britax re-harnessed it for us last year FREE of charge, updating it to the lastest spec. as our 2 year old could undo the buckle..!
It won't be long before ALL child seats are Isofix IMHO..!

The recent Fifth Gear head on between a Discovery and an Espace had a dummy baby and seat fitted using Isofix mountings. The results were that the baby would probably have survived with minor injuries compared to not using them. I'm sure many others on here saw the same test too.

You should check out the Britax IsoFix seat. It was reviewed on Which? website (sign up for free for a month) as the best IsoFix seat and almost the best seat belt one too. I've tried the seat belt method with the isofix seat and it worked a treat.
The IsoFix is a doddle too, switching between cars etc... Plus you've got the confidence in knowing you have the safest seat.

Do the STI seats have the Isofix? I remember the mounting points being on the WRX seats, but haven't really noticed them on my STI seats.

I don't have an STi.....errr only STI seats in a WRX
Can't say I've noticed the logo, which sounds a bit daft as they fit them to WRXs.

We had the Britax Isofix seat in our WRX that Subaru sell, and it was excellent, really secure. We now have an STI and we have changed to an isofix booster seat, which again is really secure, we wouldnt use anything else. Would highly recommend isofix.

Definitely isofix - we got the Britax Isofix Duo from Mothercare at a sale price with an additional 10% voucher. This is for our 9 month old that was trying to get out of the rear-facing seat before we could get the straps on.
So much easier to swap between the WRX (SL) and Forrester - just press the release buttons pull out, swap the guide clips and push in - you don't need the upper mounting tethers on Subarus. The seat is absolutely rock solid in both cars, and we even put it into the old mans Honda FRV with the same ease. My wife was acting as a bus service for another toddler and says that she was always worried about how he could move the strap mounted seat about by rocking, but the isofix one just doesn't move - apart from the designed 3 position reclining of course.

MY04 Wagon with Subaru supplied ISOFIX car seat. (This is a Britax seat with a Subaru badge on and different trim)
As other posts have stated... very secure. I'll stick with the ISOFIX child seats, and make sure the Mrs's next car has them too.
