Cool Ferrari 360 Modena vs Scoob with sub 340bhp

Yes we can expect the scoob to give the Ferrari a good run for its money from a standing start....but starting from 90/100mph?

Less than 340bhp in a full road trim UK classic with a few bolt on mods and the aerodynamics of a house....not forgetting those dreaded drivetrain losses.

Conditions dry and the roads straight.

400bhp 3.5/6 Ferrari V8 vs >340bhp 2.0 Subaru

Lets just say I found the results very surprising upto the max speed we were able to reasonably hit on the private road of 150mph

Ferrari did look

driver looked a bit baffled

usual suspects

I was genuinely surprised as I thought they would be in a league of their own in terms of performance once over 100mph.

...he was playing with you. There's a thread going on right now on ferrari chat about it.

Last night I wound up some chav in a Subaru, I was feathering the throttle so he could keep up, LOL you should have seen the look on his face, he genuinly thought he had won!

I have a video of me playing with one on the 'ring' He overtook me early on and I could keep him well insight for the rest of the lap.

My car was 329bhp and on acceleration there was not an awful lot in it.

I have to say I wasn't overly impressed.....

I also followed a black 355 out of the pit lane in my 205......I had the window down to listen to him wail........He accelerated first, 500yard run to the first corner and my old girl remained a constant distance behind He did have gaffa tape over his earlier accident damage mind

Later I allowed him to pass - he came up alongside me at about 80mph and stayed level, thumbs went up as he hit the throttle - I pulled in behind him and slowly but surely him gained a few lengths before backing off at about 150.

Again later we pulled alongside one another this time with me in the leading lane at a slightly higher speed (90/100). Smiles were exchanged as I led this time as I floored it 1st - he pulled up behind me and stayed glued so close to my rear bumper that I couldnt see his lights. He flashed at about 140mph and backed off and continued his journey.

Was surprised at how quick this rice rocket really was. Must have been running some mega power.

....if only the roads/conditions allowed for 160mph+ testing
more like it

just to put this in perspective the 360 modena has 394bhp @ 8500rpm, only 275lbft, and weighs 1350.

SO if you go on 394/1350 and 340/1235 you get 291bhp per tonne for the 360 and 275bhp per tonne for the impreza....so not a lot of difference, althoguh then you do have the 4wd traction losses, and the **** aerodynamics.....but then its never going to rip it away from you anyway is it....

I usually keep it quite but thought what the heck - its a bank holiday and not too often you get to put yourself up against supercars for 'comparisons'.

Gutmann,
As with any car...... get someone in the Ferrari that can actually drive one with conviction, and you may find youre "sights" are somewhat changed!

I would've 'expected' it to at least be quicker when starting from those speeds - not the other way around.

Nice to have a supercar owner up is up for some testing

With BOB'S performance i would guess it is as quick, it not quicker than a Spec C.

Anyone got the lap times for a 360 to compare against a Spec C for comparison (this seems the popular way to compare performance)

They don't exist......Ferrari's are polished and driven round in first gear. Seen a good few which sit in the 'ring' carpark not moving. The only ones which do move end up like this

Me playing with the one I mentioned earlier

i read on a ferrari forum that most dont bother trying to race with impreza due to there not being much in it !!subarus chasing after ferraris must be similar to corsa's chasing after impreza's

Some may not bother - some owners are very much up for it though.

I'm sure that this guy wont take his cars performance for granted against rice rockets anymore.

To throw fuel onto the fire..

I had a similar experience the other day against a...... wait for it.........M3 (E46)..! Admittedly it was a cab.. but the guy (drug dealer I think) seriously went out of his way (ie u-turn) to have some fun and from rolling 20mph upto 120+ I actually opened up a gap. I think he was as surprised as I was and pulled along side giving me the thumbs up and nod.

My low powered wrx..
