Default 10"or12"

Just put my stereo in my 02 sti and the quality of the bass seems far too overpowering.It is as tho thewhole **** end of the car is going to fall apart,its really sloppy.the system is as follows;

pioneer head unit
infinty 6.5 co-ax speakers front and rear
power'd by a audison 4 channel amp
mtx thunder 12" sub
powered by a jbl 300w amp

i had this set up in my octavia vrs and it gave tight punchy bass,should i be looking at sound deadening or some 10" subs to give me a similar sound from my scoobs boot?
any advice appreciated

And getting a 10". That 12" will be too slow for the rest of the system. You've probably got time delay issues too which wil make the 'thump' slightly later than where the beat says it should be. Have you got the ability to delay the main channels on that head unit?

Can you not set it up so there's less bass? Sure, 10" could well be more 'punchy' than 12", but this depends on many factors.

What adjustments have you got on your system?

I am running 2 12" JL Audio Subs and a Directed 1100d mono block amp. Enough power to rattle every panel but if you turn the bass down from the head unit (I know, not a natural reaction), you can get very tight punchy bass with the ability to drop quite low without vibrating the car to bits.

I stumbled accross a company called Noiskiller over on SIDC. Some of the members there have had the full car kit fitted (approx £180) to very good effect. Not only does it stop unwanted vibrations but isolates the road noise from the cabin resulting in a much quieter drive. They will sell part kits..ie, just for the boot etc and they are custom made for specific models. I think I am going to give them a try before I rattle my panels off
