Default Previous owner; Was he actually a mong?

This Impreza was either previously owned by or maintained by a complete MONG! Since the other half bought it I have had to sort out some horrendous wiring, bodged up repairs under the bonnet and various other areas of plain neglect.. I knew it had its "issues" before she parted with the cash, but hey it was cheap!

But this takes the biscuit!..

My other half was complaining that the car was vibrating through the steering wheel and pulling all over the place like it had a puncture.. The tyres look fine so I raised up the front end and span the wheels on the diff.. Passenger side seemed fine, got to the drivers side and OH MY GOD, I could move the wheel around on the bearing in the hub, I thought oh well wheel bearing must have given way so I proceeded to remove the wheel and take a look.. The problem then glared me in the face, the (to be quite frank) ****ing muppet who had replaced the wheel bearing had not hammered a notch into the hub nut and it had simply worked its self loose! Tightened it up, hammered the notch on the hub nut and its now fine.

Words fail me..

I'm all for DIY repairs and going on the cheap.

But when I find people asking "whats the 2nd dipstick do?" and "is antifreeze coolant?" It really makes makes me worry when the same people start to work on brakes and steering etc.

You know what they a say...a little knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge at all

I agree!

If someone is "just giving it a go", atleast "just give it a go" on slightly less serious part of the car? Maybe a light bulb?
