Angry Petrol prices

I thought the petrol prices didn't go up in the budget? In the last two weeks the petrol has gone up 5p a litre in my area (Lincolnshire). Are the oil companies not content with setting new records for company profits in the last financial year and are starting already on this financial year, to**ers!!!!!!!!!! BRING ON THE REVOULTION....

Wolfie.

Yes Labour quietly put up tax on fuel in the budget - but its not due to come into affect until September 1st - that way people forget about it, and dont notice the increase

Fuel near me has increased a lot in the last few weeks, with even the cheapest garages charging over 90p for regular UL. The increase are just down to increasing crude oil prices.

I expect when Labours tax increases are added in September it'll be the best part of £1/litre for regular unleaded - but hey I bet the governments inflation figure will still be 2% - thats not fiddled is it

Returning to the UK soon, so a timely reminder for me how expensive it's getting over there. From 90p/litre regular unleaded? Super unleaded over 100p/litre !!! What's diesel right now?

In Japan prices have gone up recently too. Can get High Octane (100 RON) for about 130 yen/litre, works out at 63p/litre.

96.9p here - creeping up little by little and now I'm doing 500 plus miles a week it's hitting my wallet hard.

Really makes me the way the motorist is lynched at every opportunity in this country governed by moron's, do-gooders and tossers.

Bring on the revolt.

Yes you are right, this government is the most corrupt and inept I have experienced since Clement Atley. Wilson and Heath loved to tax everyone but in an open way. New "Chav's R Us" Labour tax with stealth. Okay so we seem to be better off. Really? Just look at VAT, road fund, petrol. Stay at home and spend nothing and you might gain. Either that or join the dole queue, knock out 4 kids with a Chav bird, stay single, get a council rented flat and live a life of luxury: yes you can run a classic scoob in these circumstances Thanks Golden Brown sh1tter

We have a diesel car for economy, but a litre of diesel now costs the same as a litre of optimax.
I am the last to complain about fuel prices but there has to be a limit.
Would you not complain if it jumped to 2 quid a litre ?

I think they need to charge more for fuel over there...might help with their air polution problems!

I am another that finds it odd that people moaning about fuel prices yet happily blast around in a car that'll do at best 20ish mpg. If you're not willing to pay the price for driving your car then get a more fuel efficient one. Eg. I had a golf gt tdi, 60 mpg easy, full tank did circa 550 miles. Smart cars, what do they do, 60 mpg on nul?

My current car does 40 mpg, and IMHO it's not a heap and easily on the same level as any Impreza for driver entertainment. My fuel bills have plummeted and inwardly cringe when I realise I was spending massive amounts on Optimax each week.

Point is people who work hard and pay shed loads in tax want to enjoy themselves as well, and for many thats a nice sports car. If youre working youre **** off for the pleasure of driving a smartcar then it sort of defeats the point.

Everything in this country is taxed to death now

Every time the fuel goes up a penny It makes about .50p difference per tank.

I would like to think most of you would not even notice that!

I guess you could refrain from supersizing once a week and your weekly outgoings will be the same

I have a nice sports car, it's way cheaper to run than an Impreza.

You can't moan about fuel prices, be taken seriously, and drive around in a gas guzzling car.

Air polution is not so much of a problem and raising prices would do little to reduce fuel consumption, unless they raised it by a lot. If prices were to rise in the UK by 10%, what reduction in fuel consumption would there be? 1% perhaps?
