Thumbs up Can I Register This as a New ScoobyNet Record?

Today I have changed my front Brake Pads and Discs, mileage is 66,510 miles.

They were 3 weeks away from being 6 years old.

Despite Subarus ridiculously high prices I have bought the proper ones, £105 for the Pads and £103 for the Discs, to my mind if they are good for 6 years and 66,510miles then they are probably worth it.

The Pads came with all the shims and Copperease and clips too - so, maybe, its not too bad?

The discs were well oiled!!

By the way, easy, easy job ... my Main Dealer wanted £100 to fit them! they say that the time allocated is 1.2 hours, and I guess that may be right? I did the first side in 1 hour, the second took me 40 minutes!

Theres a certain pleasure doing it yourself isn't there?

That won't help you slow down much.

Don't forget to use the recommended bedding in procedure!

wow 66,510 miles, that may well be a record, surprised the material on yer pads lasted the same amount of time as the steel discs, or did you just decide to do the disks anyway .

I was surprised too that the pads went with the discs and wore very evenly, historically, on non Subaru Cars, I have renewed the discs with every 2nd set of pads.

The pads had about 2mm left and the disc was reduced to minimum thickness.

The front tyres need replacing now too - 30,000miles out of them, which I am very pleased about (Michelin Pilot Sports).

I have photos of what the discs and pads look like after 66,510miles of considerate driving ... if anyone is at all interested.

Very few motorway miles actually, I guess only about 6,000miles are Motorway miles.

I have noticed that I allow the engine to slow the car, much more than the brakes.

What is the bedding in procedure? And I don't mean the ScoobtNet **** Procedure either! I mean a recommended procedure - all I know is to brake carefully for 150miles????? But then I do that anyway

I know, I know ......

The Subaru Main Dealer told me at it's service in November 2004 that they could do with being replaced - he was jumping the gun somewhat!!

What ratio to the Front Brakes, do the Rears need attention?

Not sure, as i replaced mine shortly after buying the car. I've noticed the hubs on them rust away though. They dont get used as much as the fronts.
