Things to check . look for when buying a STI 3 door
#1
Gents,
Need to pick your brains.
Looking at buying a STI V6 3-door. v plate. 32K miles. What do I look for to ensure that it is safe, ok, and not stolen.
How do I test the turbo ? 4x4 torque split system ? brakes ? body panels.
You lot are the experts, so tell me what I should look for and what are the weak spots for this model.
Thanks all
Simon K

You need to check out www.sidc.co.uk and check under the FAQ's.
Just out of interest, how much you paying??
The point being is that you can get some right bargains if your willing to travel and going to a renown dealer is probably better than buying private, also you need to make sure what type of fuel the car has been run on (super unleaded only and even better with octane booster! as jap cars run 100ron fuel and the ignition is set at that, problems can arise is run on normal 95 ron fuel).
Hpi check should hopefully tell you what you need to know unless its just been imported and then your stuffed
Service history is a must on this type of car, having a turbo timer also shows that the owner has taken care when running the car down and you also need to check the body panels to make sure they all look straight and inline. Florecent light is your greatest friend here, it will show you if any panels have been resprayed
Check the usual thou, brakes shouldnt be too bad, just check for grooving of the discs, you will need to test drive to see if they are warped as braking hard from 60 should show you this (get judder thru the steering wheel).
Hope that helps a litte
