Rear end damage on a classic MY00
Wondered if any other classic owners have had a fairly hard rear shunt repaired on their car and if so the cost of repairs ?
Someone drove into the back of me this morning on the motorway (hit me at between 20 / 30 MPH I'd say) and the car was recovered to a local garage who in speaking to the insurance company thought it might be a write off.... As I have had this car since new I hope thats not the case !!
Just after a rough cost guide from anyone else who has suffered the same / similar damage.
No pics I am afraid - but the boot was pushed in one rear light smashed - spoiler looked intact though the rear moutnings were pulled away from the boot lid as it crumpled / rear bumper mashed - guess it was pushed in about 6 inches. No idea how bent the boot floor etc was. Some damage to rear side wing ( possibly both ) - I guess that could be the expensive bit! Car was still driveable once the bumper was pulled out a bit.

Had a virtually identical incident when i was rear ended by a rangerover
Was all sorted by scoobyclinic, car had to be jigged, new passenger side rear quarter welded in, new bumper, bumper carrier, lights etc.
Was about 3k all in.

Thanks for that - looks fairly similar damage wise although my bumper and boot are squashed in a bit more and the exhaust is damaged too...
Did have Scoobyclinic in mind if the insurance company repairers say its a write off !

I got a rough quote off Kev from just sending him a bunch of digital pics. Then went back to the insurance assessor and told him where i wanted it to go to be repaired, he reckoned it was borderline but repairable, that was about a year ago now so the thresholds will probably have changed a bit now.

Yep that was it... Neck is really sore and the bump on the back of my head. Think it might have broken my seat, the shove certainly moved the seat back down several clicks.
Had a nice ride in the ambulance to get my neck checked out.

RAC picked it up and its in Chippenham at the mo awaiting inspection / collection by the insurance company. They will bring it to one of their preferred repair places in Bristol.
Just trying to get a rough feel for the cars value / possilbe repair costs as insurance companies seem quite keen to write cars off these days if the parts take a while to get hold of and they are paying for a hire car etc...
A friends impreza was written off earlier this year with light frontal damage. It needed a new bonnet / bumper / headlight / foglight / top cross member and bumper rail. He bought it back off the insurers and repaired it for just over 1K.

Remember that you have the "Right" to take it to your prefered bodyshop.
I had a not to blame mishap 2 years ago and used Helphire and chose where it went, so used someone that came highly recommended

can't reccomend scoobyclinic enough, the repairs they made to my car are top notch at resonable prices and even though the car had to have a short trip on the jig to realign the rear door shuts the chassis is toatally square.
When i had the geo done at PS after the shunt Curtis was heard to mention that some of the cars dont come out of the factory that straight!
Talk to Kev at the clinic and he'll sort you out.
Hope the insurance co dont write it off.

Well - it has been deemed a write off !! Their repair estimate for the damage was £7200 - which is about 90% of their estimated value. So it will be a CAT 'D' if I take the car back off them and I get what the payout minus the salvage value which they are still waiting for bids on at the moment. He thinks the salvage value may be quite high as its rear end damage only - which isnt good news fo rme if I want my car back !
