Default Extended Warranty - Opinions

I have an 03 Sti, the warranty expired early March. The second offer from IM is about 1125 for two years.
I have had alot of warranty work to date even though the car still has less than 20k miles, but my questions
Do I have to use Subaru dealer for servicing during the extended period?
I guess that any performance mods will need to be Subaru approved ie PPP.
Will it improve the resale value or make it easier to sell?
At present I dont have any breakdown cover so if I factor that in as well (AA with Relay, Roadside etc is 138 a year not including European cover at 11 per day) I would need an extra outlay of around 850, less if I used the car on the continent.
Your thoughts.
