Default How do you tell if a car is an import ?

Been looking at a few (MY53) STi's in Autotrader going for about £14,000.

That seems cheap to me, so just wondering how I would tell if they've been imported from a European Country. Is it on the V5 document.

If it is advertised as a Type U.K. does that mean it is definitely a U.K. model ?

Cheers,
Graeme.

It may be UK Spec but imported from the Continent. It should say in the V5 if it was imported or call your Subaru Garage and give the reg etc. They may be able to tell. "Type UK" was also added to the STi badges to let buyers know if it was a UK car. But you can buy them!!!
Hope this helps.

Does it not still work the same way as classics, no rear wash wipe on UK cars, but the jap imports have them?

The service book could have the origainal source in it. My old Bugeye had a Belgian garage's name in it.

It will say in the service book. Condition is the important thing as the EU sourced car worry is more and more a thing of the past.

Whether it be U.K or EU it's more or less still the same car. Check for locking weeel nuts, alarm & immobiliser if it has these and the condition is right then forget the EU vs UK comparisons.
