Running Costs
#1
Other than Petrol and Insurance which are obviously quite a high expense when running a Scooby are there any other big costs that I am likely to expect after entering into Scooby ownership.
I would be looking at a sub 10K 5 door Turbo as the car.
I am after things that maybe surprised you when you got the first one...
Or if there is already a thread on this point me that way please!
Cheers
Scott!

Depends what you had before.
Tyres £150 a corner (5k-15k miles)
Servicing every 7.5k or 6 months
As long as you can afford 15mpg and the insurance you should be OK, until you want to make improvements to it ££££.
It will be worth it though

Hi there
Running costs
I average 22mpg of mixed driving. I can get it down to 10mpg if i try hard although have got 28mpg (during fuel crisis, not through choice!).
Tyres - shop around £ 90.00 inc. for F1's
Servicing - dealer every 7.5k cost 7.5/15/22.5k £ 100.00 (ish)
30K £ 350.00 (ish)
major service @ 45k/90k (i think) £ 400.00 (ish) other service 'bout £ 100.00
I recon it costs about the same to run as my Vectra 2.0l based on dealer type charges for parts/labour.
I would not change mine for anything (within reason) the problem will be relacing it with a better car for the money and i do not believe there is such a thing!
ALWAYS puts a smile on my face, whenever i drive it.

You can get Toyo's for £85 for 16's each from Motorsport wheels - if you can buy cheaper elsewhere - tell everyone!
Serving can be had for much less than £100 - shop around
Of course the biggest cost now is heavy depreciation - allow at least £3-£4k per annum
I get between 20-30 on my sti5 - but this is effected by my Link ECU that has improved fuel performance whilst increasing power!

Scott,
The only thing that surprised me was the number of extra bits I wanted to buy once I'd got the car (and the number I still can't afford). So budget for the extras.
Hey Steve, If you come up to Carlisle you can get Toyo's for £70 each. Which is just as well as I'm on my 3rd set of tyres in a year
