Question Anybody been round in the BMW Ring-Taxi?

I'm thinking of getting a ticket for the Ring-Taxi - anyone been round or interested in sharing (the tickets are for 3 people).

Unless you have already booked, I doubt you'll get much joy this year.

You can always turn up and hope that someone cancels or there is a spare seat in another party and offer to pay them.

There are plenty of quick drivers around, and I'm sure they'll take you out for a lap for a beer or something.

I'm just waiting for Nevatas to lend me his car so I can do faster pass laps.

I understand that cancellations are common on wet days.

not anymore m8. I asked on one of my trips last year & it was still fully booked. TBH I only asked because it was wet so thought that it would be fun.

Never seen a fast Supra around there.

I see a lime green thing every now and again.

I'd still be suprised to see anyone over take the new 500bhp taxi.

It'd have to be about an 8 min lap to catch, overtake and pull away from the new Taxi.

There's a Viper doing passenger laps for money setup in the cafe car park.
I'd pick that over the ring taxi. It wipes the floor with the M5's but not surprising given the taxi's are usually carrying 4 people.
I tried to book the ring taxi at the end of 2004 and the entire of 2005 was already booked

not my car mate, did a 8.20 in it as a passenger though, and yep tis lime green with matt black bonnet. although didn't maage to get passed sabine though, she just hung the rear end out every corner to stop it going by, and with dicky turbo didn't have the grunt to get passed on straight, got a video of a kap in it somewhere i'll try and dig it out and post up link.

it did a 7.59 the week it was there but by the time i got to have a passenger lap the second turbo was on the way out and the front suspension was bottoming out. mental car though

its back bigger and better, 600bhp and suspension changed now .
saw it at a track day at oulton park other week when i was there, awseome car

It also costs alot of money. About £200 a lap from memory.

I have followed it in the scoob and wasn't that impressed.

haha .............. I followed this car in my 205. It struggled to catch and pass me (only got me on the long Kesselchen drag). It got quicker over the course of the weekend but not sub 8 mins quick IMHO

The ring taxi is expensive too €175 a lap but at least you can share the ride.
Wouldn't fancy being a back seat passenger though.....
Viper looked f**n quick to me, blitzing past everything in sight.
Only ever been once though and the best drivers make the quickest laps not the best cars. That said I enjoyed my slow laps in a 911 more than I would have in a caged up 205, I didn't have a clue what corner was coming up next

when abouts was this mate? might have been when turbo was bolloxed (dropped from 1.4 to 0.9 over the weekend i was there) or if earlier on when he was learning the track, they were there for more than one weekend. and more than once last year.

A lap of the ring as a passenger in a Viper????? No thanks! I want to come back in one piece, preferably not as an integral part of the scenery either!!

They may be crude, but putting your foot don in one of those is like being strapped to a Piano pushed off a cliff! A ride in a Hennesy tuned Viper Venom is something you don't soon forget!!!

I love em to bits, not sure I could live with one over here though!

Oh, and then theres the smaller matter of raising sufficient funds to buy one.

I was there last year when they filmed it, the viper was used for the slip stream as well as getting people out of the way. It was a funny sight seeing a tranny on the ring!!
