SUBARU SEARCHES FOR 'SUPERHUMAN' RALLY FAN
Subaru is looking for Britain's biggest-hearted rally fan to reward them with a
once-in-a-lifetime experience - a ride in the official Subaru World Rally Car
with the team's top driver, Richard Burns.
In the run up to this year's 'Network Q Rally of Great Britain' in November, the climax of the 2001 World Rally Championship, one lucky individual will join Subaru's Prodrive World Rally Team during its pre-event testing in Wales.
Strapped into the passenger seat of the state-of-the-art 300bhp Impreza World Rally Car, the chosen person will be given the drive of their life by Richard Burns, winner of the Rally of Great Britain for the past two years running.
Superhuman Determination
Rallying pits man and machine against some of the harshest environments in the world. To succeed, the team, the car and its crew require almost superhuman stamina and determination.
Now, Subaru is looking to reward an individual with a similar level of drive and determination - but directed towards helping others.
Members of the public are invited to nominate someone they feel deserves recognition and reward for a 'superhuman' act.
Extraordinary
Chief Executive Officer, Ed Swatman, said the winning nominee would be someone who had accomplished something truly extraordinary during the past 12 months,
either for another person, group of people or perhaps a whole community.
"Put simply, the nominees must have demonstrated a willingness to put the welfare and happiness of others before their own, and at considerable sacrifice to themselves," he said.
To nominate an individual, simply write in no more than 100 words why you feel your nominee deserves the thank you of a lifetime. All nominations must be received before 5 November, 2001.
The Real Thing
Subaru World Rally Team Principal, David Lapworth, said: "This will not be a sanitised theme park ride. Taking place on the same terrain over which the Rally of Great Britain will be run, this is the real thing and something that very few people ever get to experience at first hand.
"Richard has won the Rally of Great Britain for the past three years running, and was runner-up in the overall World Championship in 1999 and 2000 - proving beyond doubt that few people can drive more quickly."

SDB was my first thought also......stamina, determination, and one day a charity will benefit (if we ever find out who to send the money to!!!).
does it help if everybody nominates him?
or should we forget about him, and attempt to quash his god like status on here....lol

LOL.. seriously guys.. I would feel like a fraud if I was offered this..
I enjoy running scoobynet (it has it's moments), so I'm glutten for punishment on that one..
the world record was something I wanted to do first, and then realised that we could raise a load of money for charity at the same time, so I didn't actually go to all the trouble just for the charity side (was a nice bonus though).
There will be someone out there that REALLY deserves such a fabulous prize. Not being modest, it's just a fact.
(This is just a ruse to avoid being terrified as I'm the worst passenger in the world!!! )
All the best
Simon

Thanks Ron.
This needs to be for someone who has done something exceptional for a comunity rather than loving the sport.
Say someone who you know who helps disabled kids you know who would also love to be given a ride with Burns. That kind of idea.
There are people way ahead of me in that respect. Simon would probably start telling Burns he is using too much lock in understeer or saying he is a wuss for not getting it more sideways and holding it there anyway. LOL
Do any of you guys know someone who helps in that way, helps MS sufferers, that kind of thing? I would love a run in the WRC car, who wouldnt? but it's not apropriate for me on this one. If they held one for the biggest motorspot nut in the UK that would be diferent. Thanks for posting the article pete.

I would like to nominate my Dad Colin, Those of you who know us may already know what a real bad time my Dad has had over the last few years, Firstly he was nearly killed by a drunk driver, and is still not able to work properly because his injiries were so bad and secondly whilst Dad was getting over his accident they found he had a brain tumour, Thankfully the operation to remove this was a success and he is on the mend so if I could nominate him on behalf of my brother and myself I would like too.
Thanks
Jamie.
Thanks
Jamie.
