I bought a duck egg - Should i aproach the dealer???
2 Weeks ago my engine went pop, well my big end bearings went, so i had to have a new block fitted which cost me a fair few quid. The sickener is it was only two weeks out of the warranty.
I thought it was me down to giving it some stick (Standard UKMY99 Turbo) but when i went to pick it up on Saturday the guy who did my car (who happens to really knows his stuff about scoobs) said that the engine had definitely had history and been out of teh car before and by the looks of it had a crank regrind which is only a temporary solution - so it looks like i've been diddled one way or the other.
Should i take this up with the dealer??? - to say i'm p***ed off is an understatement.
Thanks guys

I'm surprised you didn't try a speculative shot to see if they would pay towards the repair? Was it a Main Dealer? They may have done it 'at cost'?

How does the mechanic know that the engine has been out ? If it was obvious and the dealer had serviced the vehicle prior to you buying it then you could mention to the dealership that they should have noticed it. Best bet is to visit the dealer in person during the day when the sales manager will be there and as you have been up to now be polite, diplomatic, but firm. A written letter from the mechanic may help at a later stage, but I wouldnt open with that (you can write and print it, just get mechanic to sign it..?)
Good luck, I hope you can get at least some of your costs back.

He knew it had been out because of the sealant used on the block plus there were marks on the crankshaft, to be honest he was getting a bit technical with me but take it from me and any of the Smacs lot dale really knows what he is talking about. he was almost 100 percent certain my engine had a history and had been 'split'

A crank regrind is a permanent solution, not a temp one, so how much does he really know about cars?
Sickening though, you should chat with the supplying dealer

Not what i've been told - dont shoot me i'm only the messenger
Seriously i've been told that a crank regrind on a Subaru is a bad idea and only a temp fix until it goes again
I think David at APi told me that as well.
Well i keep ringing the dealer and they keep promising me a call back but nothing yet
