I am looking to remap shortly on my wrx MY05 , but I want to buy an exhaust first . I can get one locally , but the size of pipe only goes to 2.5 in , my question is will this size of pipe be alright for a remap .

For the power you'll be going for in the WRX with a remap the size won't be an issue..
What exhaust changes though - full decat ? decat centre ? sports cat ?

I want to keep one cat so it passes the MOT but as a choice of what exhaust I'm not sure , what do you recommend?

The WRX PPP comes with a prodrive decat centre pipe and back box so that's a good start..if you want a bit more you can get a sports cat for the downpipe to replace the standard one as is supplied with the Sti PPP. See them 2nd hand on here or ebay all the time..
Otherwise the worlds your oyster - Hayward and Scott, Blitz, etc etc,,
